Harry could be crowned King of wanting to have his cake and eat it too.
Especially the part about how he has $20+ million dollars of inheritance in the bank and lucrative earning potential but still thinks he should have his personal expenses and security paid for him.

Do we think Harry is coming over for the statue unveiling on the 1st of July?

Something that I find interesting is how much Harry and Meghan want to "save" their relationship with the Queen, and how much effort they put into making it seem as they are the closest to her and all of that, while completely ruining their relationships with both Charles and William. The Queen is old, and she could die at any moment (not that I wish she does, but something that could realistically happen). When that happens is gonna be Charles (closely followed by William) who will be in charge of everything. I don't find the Sussexes strategy very smart (I don't find most of their decisions particularly smart), but this one completely baffles me.

I remember reading about how when David Koch was alive he was a notorious cheapskate. Like he was a terrible tipper and wanted a lot of things for free because he was David Koch. Some rich people are super generous, and others are like Ebenezer Scrooge and refuse to pay an extra tuppence for more bread.

Is this statue just for the back garden in Kensington Palace or will it be seen by the public? I hate statues of relatively recent dead people we know what they look like and it rarely does them any justice. Edit Terry Wogans statue was one I was thinking of. If he comes I’m sure it will be Harry escalates feud by insisting on being there in person rather than zoom only weeks after birth of daughter. If he doesn’t it will Harry escalates feud by insisting on staying with wife and new daughter and using a zoom call instead of being there in person.

I still don't get what it is that they did that was so bad. The name? Moving away from the UK? Saying that they didn't like living the royal lifestyle? They want their cake and eat it too. They talk out of both sides of their mouths. They say the BRF are trapped and don’t even know it, but they complain that Archie wasn’t given a title. Harry and Meghan want the glory and perks of being royal, but they also want to make money off their association and titles. They don’t want to live a life of public service and duty to the people of the UK and the Commonwealth. They want to live a life of glamour in their beachside mansion and lord their titles over Hollywood. I truly believe they think themselves as super A-list in Hollywood now and everyone wants to be their friend. In any case, it’s propelled Meghan into the social stratosphere, so it still ain’t half bad despite their constant fumbles. ETA: I truly hope the BRF has a strategic comms plan to handle the possibility of H&M returning to London for the Platinum Jubilee. A lot can happen between now and then, but if tensions are still what they are and they STILL decide to attend, there needs to be a plan so that they don’t overshadow the festivities and use the occasion as their triumphant return, complete with balcony appearance with their children. They don’t deserve any of those perks after they way they’ve trashed the family. There's a TOS quote for this! I'm still blown away by what happened yesterday. The Sussexes can't use the Cambridges for clout and PR because that relationship is publicly in tatters. They also can't use Charles because they nuked that relationship themselves on Oprah and Apple. And now they can't leak any more stories about being so close to TQ because she shut them down hard. No more leaks about how they Zoom with TQ and have her private number and get waffle irons. They can't talk about the royals at all now without looking ridiculous and desperate. And no use pretending that any future attendace at royal events is anything more than good manners and protocol. The message is clear as day: They are out. QEII surgically removed them from the BRF without taking away a single title.

I had joked a few days ago that Montecito would clap back and say the Queen doesn't own the name Lillibet. Now I feel like we're about a day from the Sussexes putting out a press release that says exactly that.
I truly hope the two of them love each other very much and stay together forever, because it seems like they don't have anyone else.

I still don't get what it is that they did that was so bad. The name? Moving away from the UK? Saying that they didn't like living the royal lifestyle? If I had to guess what has poisoned family relations aside from the general airing of family laundry to Oprah, the most is Harry's bizarre comment about his family being "stuck" in the Royal Family. I mean, I don't think the accusations of racism or ignoring a suicidal pregnant woman were appreciated, either, but those were much vaguer. He, son of the future monarch, went on Oprah and said that the monarchy is bad and bad for its members. I think a major goal of the Royal Family in the late 20th century to now has been to continue to exist, and I don't see how he can come back from saying that. Now, I think Harry is really stupid, and legitimately doesn't understand that the grandmother he loves so much is also the monarchy that he is attacking, and has been for 70 years (which is in fact being celebrated next year). Or he kind of does, and wanted to name his daughter after her as a symbol of his fealty. It sounds like he told her, rather than asked for permission, about the Lilibet name. I truly have no idea if the Queen cares about his usage of the name. Perhaps she cares that it was a statement and not a request? That would frankly make perfect sense with the rigidity and hierarchy that Harry was literally complaining about on Oprah. Now, should anyone care aside from Windsor-Mountbatten family? Probably not. But the RF decided to allow a source to leak that permission was not asked rather than let the Prince Harry Famiy Feud peter out. Either someone is super pissed OR has decided that continuing to feed it publicly is beneficial for some reason. I do think that Harry is largely coming off as petty, spoiled, whiny, and dumb. Even his valid complaints are vague or come with a side of spoiled entitlement and contradictory attention-seeking. He would frankly help his image just by shutting the eff up. If all the RF has to do to come out on top is continue to let him blab, while other members stay quiet, they gain instant sophistication AND provide distraction from actual scandal (Prince Andrew). Harry really is dumb. lol. And the Royal Family is benefiting from the distraction he is providing, that's for sure. I want to see a picture of little lili.

I remember reading about how when David Koch was alive he was a notorious cheapskate. Like he was a terrible tipper and wanted a lot of things for free because he was David Koch. JFK Jr. used to "forget his wallet" a lot, according to his friends. (Some of them thought it was endearing.) Is this statue just for the back garden in Kensington Palace or will it be seen by the public? It's going to be in the sunken garden at Kensington Palace, which is open to the public. It's a beautiful garden and I believe it was one of Diana's favorites. It's always a little dicey as to how a commissioned statue will turn out. Hopefully, someone in the process was empowered to reject a bad attempt and get a re-do if one was needed.

Man, this stinks for QE. She has given up so much in her life for her duty, she can’t even keep her own nickname. To me it seems like it’s one of the only things in her life that is personally hers, that isn’t surrounded by pomp and courtiers and crowns and all that Royal stuff. It’s what her husband of nearly 75 years called her, what her beloved dad and sister called her. I honestly don’t think there would have been as big of a kerfuffle about it if they had named her Elizabeth.
I don’t know if there is actually some process where all the grandchildren present a name and she says yay or nay, I’m sure it’s more like “here it is!” and she says lovely, great. But that process assumes that your grandchildren aren’t huge entitled a-holes who are broadcasting their identity crisis through the media and are actively exploiting your “close relationship” to gain points against their own family.
