This is funny - I was a child in California in the 70's and grew up eating jicama (Goop probably did too as she is only 3 years younger than me) but it kind of dropped of the radar the last 20 years or so. Funny that it's popular again with the kids these days. I actually bought one to serve with a hummus platter last fall and my friends had never seen one in the wild, so to speak. I had to show them how to peel and cut it up. I remember jicama being part of the Sizzler salad bars in the 80s/90s. I mainly remember the pepperoni and bacon from the Sizzler Salad Bar. There could have been jicama too, but I wouldn't have known it.

It's light and crunchy, and a little sweet. Less crunchy than carrots. I really like it in the summer. It goes down easy

I really like raw jicama. But, I've never had it cooked--it never even occurred to me you could cook it!

Why is she not in school? Her college has been back in session since Jan. 9. I'm salty because it's one of my son's top choices (he's a junior) and odds are he won't get in -- but I am certain that if he did, he wouldn't blow off classes to go to France. Ugh, this entire family exhausts me.

Why is she not in school? Her college has been back in session since Jan. 9. I fully anticipate that, like her mother, she will drop out and go into show business or modeling. And like her mother, she will explain that she's a natural intellectual, total college material, and too good for show business. But at the same time, she's too talented, too beautiful and too creative not to live up to her destiny as a show business and fashion icon. Yet she will forever yearn for the intellectual fulfillment she experienced during those 6-9 months of college, the type of fulfillment her uneducated peers will never understand...

I agree that she’ll probably drop out to become a model or actress because academic life is not glamorous enough.

Vanderbilt, according to the ten zillion college groups I'm in, although I can't think of anyone providing proof of an actual in-person encounter with her there.

(specifically the Gwyneth you have pictured; she looks like a snooty goose. lol) But 100% agree, she is too *all of the above* to be "wasted" on academia. It'll be that Hollywood or Chanel etc just came begging and she just couldn't disappoint. I mean honestly what else would you expect with G as her mother. They do after all live in that rarified air.
