Did anyone watch her on Shark Tank last week?
I have to say, I was shocked that she passed on some of the items, there was a $30 "healthy" pancake mix that she probably could have plopped onto her Goop site and sold out in days. I mean, talk about a ready-made audience that's ready to over pay for basic shit, like a $300 white t-shirt. The other sharks thought the price was a barrier, but with Goop herself there, I figured she'd pull a Bethenny Frankel and just try to buy the business right out from under the guy.
There was also some ridiculous gadget to immediately chill wine or keep it chilled or something. Another product that I thought would fit on Goop, it's a "solve" for an extremely petty "problem" for people who have money to burn.
The funniest though was when she passed on this business selling Jicama products because "I make my own Jica foods at home so I just don't see a need for this." Said with nary a clue that not everyone has time to make their own Jica foods at home from scratch.

She came across to me like she came on the show to pretend she's a mogul, but in truth she's just a woman with a lot of money and NOT an investor. She didn't know how to construct a deal.

(Kinda off topic... But I actually packed some Jicama sticks in my lunch today. I feel very Gwyneth now...)

I didn't watch Shark Tank, but somebody trying to expand the jicama market and turn it into a trendy food like avocadoes seems like a good idea to me. I don't know the first thing about how to buy, prepare or cook jicama because I'm not perfect like Goop. Thank you for linking these - I now follow Lisa Timmons on instagram. Her Goop videos (ft. housekeeper Belinda) are the best: Thank you, Belinda!Belinda's last words

She captures the absurdity of these super-privileged celebrities so well. I really liked this Kate Hudson one.

Ginger, too get started, just peel it (cut off a chunk first. They're bigger than a carrot) and cut it up like a carrot.

Because I already eat carrots, I don't know if I need another carrot-y food in my life. Trader Joe's jicama wraps appear to be a popular substitute for the Keto/gluten-free.

You can eat jicama raw like a carrot. Or cook it... like a carrot (lol!) Some places sell it pre-peeled and cut up which is how I got it (Though I've also bought a whole one and peeled it before... I'm lazy lately) It tastes good just plain, but try it with some lime juice and chili powder, then it is the BOMB!
On topic. I'm sure Goop is buying whole jicama and carefully pressing it out by hand to make her own wraps, facial masks... and biodegradable jicama panties. She could have taught that peasant hocking their lowly jicama business a thing or 12!

This is funny - I was a child in California in the 70's and grew up eating jicama (Goop probably did too as she is only 3 years younger than me) but it kind of dropped of the radar the last 20 years or so. Funny that it's popular again with the kids these days.
I actually bought one to serve with a hummus platter last fall and my friends had never seen one in the wild, so to speak. I had to show them how to peel and cut it up.
