Goop must be in the air because another podcast I like, Sounds Like a Cult, just did a Goop episode as well. did a piece on her a couple of weeks ago, too. She just turned 50 last month, so that's probably why she's getting all the airtime. |

Gwyneth is going to be a guest Shark on this season of Shark Tank. I guess she can teach the aspiring entrepreneurs how to be born on third base and ride a middling acting talent to a wellness empire?

I was watching HGTV and Gwyneth was on a show, Celebrity IOU. She paid for a renovation of a condo for her assistant. It was a lovely makeover but the show rapidly became about everyone telling her how wonderful she is.

I'm sure she loves that. She's been insufferable for so long I was going to say she should be about to pivot into actually lovable. But maybe not. I'm not quite there yet on my Gwyneth journey. I still get "private school mean girls" vibe from her that is hidden behind the smug glow of someone who is pretending to help us lessers better ourselves through colon cleanses and multi grains.

She appears self-aware enough to know she sounds privileged and ridiculous and I think she's incorporated that into her brand.

I get the "maybe NOW they'll like me" vibe from this. Anyone else, I'd think it would be funny, but it just smacks of "trying too hard".
