The house is cold, pretentious and bland, just like its owner. The huge mess of electrical cords and lightbulbs on the living room ceiling is particularly hideous. And it was custom designed, so it must have cost a fortune.
Goop's homes never show signs of anyone actually living in them. There are no personal mementos, photos, paintings, knick knacks, books, televisions, or any evidence that someone ever sits down and does something human in the house. It all looks like a particularly austere furniture showroom.
My new favorite Goopism: Her favorite alcohol is Japanese whiskey, but since she's not drinking much this year, she's mostly having seedlip cocktails.
Side note: I cannot stand listening to people's bracelets jingle. It's so obnoxious to make people listen to the constant irritating sound of your jewelry. It's particularly egregious when one is hosting a video and waving one's arms around constantly. I listened to a highly-produced podcast last week and listened to the host's bracelets jingle for 90 minutes - that's so unprofessional.

It's very gray. At least it's not white on white on white? That's my faint praise.
I do admit that I love that spa area though. What a splurge.

What I took from that is that Gwyneth loves reclaiming things, loves fireplaces, and she lived in London. She mentioned that bit 3 times in that 12 minute segment.

It's a nice amount of space but desperately in need of warmth and personality. Neither of which encumbers Fishstick, so I guess it suits her.

I guess that's her new house in Montecito that they've been working on for years. Wow.

Personally I love the house, it’s gorgeous. I tend to like cooler tones and simplicity and it definitely has that. I also love the modern furniture with the more traditional architecture.
Obviously she’s going to be pretentious about it, but I thought her video was far, far less pretentious than the architects and designers quoted in the article. Some of the things they said made absolutely no sense, I laughed.

Gwyneth loves reclaiming things, I think she loves buying really expensive things through a high-priced design team that are marketed as reclaimed. She didn't pick that "reclaimed" sink up on the side of the road and put it in her kitchen. A few years ago, so many people were repurposing shipping containers into tiny sheds/homes that the manufacturers had to start manufacturing shipping containers to meet the demand. That's exactly where the "reclaimed" trend is at. Fishstick's house is like the exact opposite of Emmy Raver-Lampman and Daveed Diggs house. The Raver-Lampman-Diggs house is colorful, cozy, and filled with items that have personal meaning. I have no problem believing they host fun dinners at that dining table, watch TV on that L-shaped couch, use the computer in the office, and play the records under the stairs. I don't think Goop ever uses those fireplaces she claims to care so much about, or that she gives a shit about that weird wall of plates.

Here's a recap if you can't watch:
You know I used to live in Europe? I love European homes, which are so much better than our American homes. I just had to bring those European design elements to my American home. This piece came from France, and this floor is from London, and this weird ass looking chandelier is from Paris, darling, and there's a fireplace in every room because Europe. My wallpaper is so cool, it's handmade in LA. I have a ladder in my kitchen, I don't know why, it's just cool. These tiles are reclaimed from an ancient Roman villa. These gold fixtures remind me of my heyday in the 1990s when I won an Oscar. Everyone should have a fireplace in their kitchen you know? It's just SO much like when I lived in the UK, where I had TWO fireplaces in every room. Can you believe I found this fireplace on Pinterest?! LOL, it's hilarious that someone as refined as I am would be on Pinterest. I love having all my cast iron cookware visible and my housekeeper keeps them so organized. Just so you know, I actually let my kids eat pasta now, and it's their favorite thing that I make. Now we're in my very cold, uncomfortable living room. I have a giant swing in here! Oh, look, here's another ugly chandelier inspired by Guns n' Roses, so retro and cool! This is a one of a kind design, mainly because it's so ugly it's never been reproduced. Here is the massive marble bar, or wait, is it quartz? I don't know, by the time we got to this room I told the architect "just put whatever in there." I have my own spa in my house because I'm so into wellness, you know with Goop? This spa is just like one in Paris that I love. The tiles are all handmade. It's so calming when I come in here and remember how rich I am. I come in here every day, I can't believe I live here. I'm so RICH!

That's an excellent synopsis, ladybug. And it's a good thing Gwyneth is SO RICH, because according to the article, that swing in the living room is more that $62K and the hideous bundle of cables pretending to be a light fixture is more than $45K. I do like the wallpaper in the dining room and the "reclaimed Portuguese" tile in the kitchen.
