I know that the guy isn't the most sympathetic victim, but I feel bad for him. If he caused the crash, he's not the victim at all. The jury assigned him 100% of the responsibility for the collision. It was hard with that guy because he had delusions of grandeur and I don't think that's a symptom of TBI. He blamed Gwyneth because his girlfriend dumped him, and then testified that he couldn't go on dating sites to meet someone new because he's too famous and all of the women on the dating sites know all about his case. There was so much exaggeration on his part. His lawyers said: "Terry had been a high-functioning, active person. Every day he was doing lots of things. Meeting groups, wine tasting, skiing, volunteering. After the accident, he deteriorated abruptly and many of the activities he loved to do, he stopped doing.” He said he had become a "self-imposed recluse" who stays at home "90 percent of the time" and can't travel by himself. And then Gwyneth's lawyers pulled photos from his Facebook page of him on thirty vacations since the accident including the Netherlands, Morocco, Belgium, Germany, France, Italy, Switzerland, Thailand, Peru and Costa Rica. And on these trips he was photographed white-water rafting, riding a camel, hiking, biking, scootering, golfing and more skiing. Any 76-year-old should be so lucky to be that active. Doesn't that strike you as weird that this man is claiming to be a recluse and but has all that posted on his social media? I mean if he's deliberately trying to grift - why would he post that stuff? In my experience that can be part of the TBI. I live with a family member who had a TBI and I see that kind of disconnect all the time. Their perception of things is always skewed - they blame others for things that are clearly their own doing. Anger issues are really common in TBIs, so you put all that together and it's a mess. For the person with the TBI and their loved ones. That's not to say I think he should have won the case against her. But I do feel some empathy for the guy.

One of the jurors was interviewed after the trial, and she was sympathetic to him as well. She said several times that she believes he was "telling his truth" but that his truth was just "distorted by other factors".
He doesn't seem like an irredeemable person to me. However, whatever his problems are, I don't think they have anything to do with Gwyneth. And it is a pretty shitty thing to put someone through 7 years of litigation, including a public trial, when you are just looking for someone to blame for your problems and you happen to have tons of time and money on your hands.

It's like that NYT opinion piece about the moral hazard of OK Boomer. To which I say... Ok Boomer.

That Bustle interview was interesting. I know that it's been 15 years of goop and it still isn't profitable. The so-called valuation number of $250 million came from an unnamed source inside the company a few years ago and pre-pandemic. My take is that she's tired of working on it. I get that it would be hard to be the model and spokesperson for the brand and the CEO. Ask Martha Stewart - she warned GP years ago that she should stick to acting, lol. But she has to save face and that's why they're making a last ditch effort to turn a profit by going mass so that she can try to sell the company. But I don't know if she's going to be able to make it with the Target crowd. She's popular among a certain set of rich, mostly white women but maybe she has realized that that pool just isn't big enough to fish from.

Awww, poor little rich girl. Why doesn't she ask "Uncle Morty" for advice and network within her nepo baby social circle?

I just went and looked at the Bustle article and all those bombshell photos are totally at odds with the words coming out of her mouth about accepting herself and not comparing herself to other women. She could stay out of the spotlight if she wanted to. She thrives on being an object of envy.
And in the context of the interview, it's clear she was reacting to the nepo baby label when it comes to her own kids. It doesn't seem to register that she herself is a nepo baby because she's been telling herself for her entire career that she made it on her own effort.
It is nice that the she's laying off the fillers, though.

Based on what I see of her I think her entire identity centers on being an object of envy.
