I read some of the comments posted below the tour video, and people were praising Goop for giving credit to various businesses/people. Wouldn't she be doing that to get a discount/freebee on whatever it is she was pointing out? I doubt she was doing it out of the goodness of her heart, which some posters seemed to think. Her architects and designers already did the work and are fairly high end/established already. I doubt she got significant freebies years back for a future Arch Digest feature that may or not have materialized. A lot of celebs try to act like they handled all the design themselves, so I do give Goop credit on this one.

I love all the reclaimed pieces that she has in there. I just love mixing modern and antique. And that bathroom! Both of them! And I loved the wallpaper in the dining room. But I get the feeling that I'm in the minority.

Architectural Digest has always included that type of information as it is why their readers buy the magazine. In the modern era, I believe AD has a notice on the articles in their digital edition that they get revenue from affiliate links, but I don't think the people they profile share in that. When celebrities do an Architectural Digest cover, it's usually because they are getting ready to sell and they'll get more interest and a better price for a property that's published. Could Fishstick be planning to unload this monstrosity already? It's always funny to listen to a celebrity go on and on about their dream home and how it's the happiest place in the whole wide world, and then two weeks after the AD tour, they've flipped it.

No, ginger, It's her forever home! She said so! The spa is for when she (and Brad?) are old and need to warm their old bones in the hot tub. I'm still trying to figure out how a sprightly 50 yo exits that cold water dunking tub. It looks to be 6 feet deep with no way to get out.

But I get the feeling that I'm in the minority. I’m with you. The only aspect I wasn’t crazy about was the formal living room, but other than that, I thought it was lovely, especially the kitchen. I think a classy sliding ladder like that in the kitchen would be a great way to regularly leverage higher up storage space, if you don’t have little kids that would try to be little acrobats on it (or off of it).

When I said businesses/people I wasn't referring to the architects and designers. I was referring to a business like the store in France where she purchased the dining room table. Or the business that hand painted the dining room wall paper. She actually only referenced a few places/people in the video. I would imagine she has shared that info with more than AD though.

Yeah, I did not like the chandelier either. Ironically, weren't Tommy Lee and Pam designing a sex swing in their place (according to the new Hulu show?).
I thought most of the home is beautiful, but I think Falchuk's old Brentwood place was warmer too. I know there's a whole economy that exists for buyers and sellers in that price range, but man. It kind of boggles my mind.

Now that is a beautiful house, and Daveed & Emmy are down to earth and delightful as hosts. I really enjoyed their video. I love their place because it looks like people actually live there. They have books and posters and photos on the wall. I know everyone clears out their personal crap when AD comes over, but they did it without making their home look like a sterile museum. You know, like Gwynnie’s place. Also, I LOVE Falchuk’s old place. That’s exactly what I meant about showing off your wealth in a smaller but well-appointed home on a decent piece of land instead pouring all your money into a giant, drafty house.

But she has fireplaces! She learned all about fireplaces when she lived in London. Fireplaces are European, you see, which is why she learned about them when she lived in London. Which she did. If she hadn't, she wouldn't know about fireplaces at all because they don't have them in the US because they're European. Which is where she lived for a time.

My BF and I were just discussing ladders for the top shelves (we both top out at 5'7" so we need help reaching. At least when neither of my giant children are around)
