As for the former King and Queen, Juan Carlos abdicated the throne. Because of scandal. In the old days, what he would have been "pushed out of" is a moving train after getting a bullet to the head. He should count his blessings. My suspicion that Juan Carlos and Sofia still think they are still the reigning King and Queen (and behave that way) was confirmed by that article. Ding! Ding! Ding! We have a winner! Scandal s. Wherever he went, some other scandal would emerge. I mean it was pretty much a public secret he and Sofia lived apart the majority of the time, as he's such a womanizer. It's clear they resent her for usurping their status as the current Queen. Well, Felipe too, but as he's the rightful successor and she's the outsider, it's always easier to put blame on the outsider. So yeah, Juan Carlos & Sofia can suck it. JC's own reckless actions caused so much damage to the throne, he personally was endangering it. |

There's not really a lot of precedent about what to do with a former king and queen. Usually when they abdicated, they were either exiled or executed. Having them hanging around like death's heads at the feast is not great for the new rulers, especially when they want the privileges they surrendered without the responsibility. I'm team Filipe and Letizia here- JC chose to abdicate and they are now in charge, so he and Sofia should suck it up and stop causing trouble.

Ok, I need to talk about Letizia's transformation since she first came on the scene? Her face has changed dramatically, and she looks so much younger now than she did when she first got married.
I believe she has admitted to surgery on her nose, to "fix respiratory issues", but girlfriend looks like she's found the elixir of youth, which cannot just be from a nose job alone. Her face is fuller and she is seriously more beautiful. What do you guys think she's had done? Cause I can't quite put my finger on it.

I would say nose and chin; plus she's lost a lot of weight since marrying into the family. Pulling up photos from when she was a newscaster, her face was much fuller back in the day, and all I see is a more refined nose and chin.
The same could be said of Mary of Denmark and Queen Rania.

Yeah, maybe it is the chin - that would change the shape of her face I guess. It's more around her eyes and cheeks that I see the most difference. Smoother, firmer, fuller, and yet she is stick thin. I dunno, there are some photos of her around the time of the wedding and early into the marriage, and she looks ROUGH.

Felipe and Letizia are at the White House. I can't imagine they're thrilled to be there with Mango and Melania. It will be interesting to see what the fall out is. I'm sure Ivanka is thrilled to put on her pretty-pretty princess outfit if there's a big dinner tonight.

Aparently Letizia has made Felipe distance himself from family and friends.
Queen Sofia has complained to her brother that Letizia will not allow her to see her granddaughters & Letizia's mother Paloma can see the girls when ever she wants.
When Felipe & Letizia have a long trip it is Paloma who looks after the girls.
Queen Sofia & Letizia did a pap walk with the girls in Mallorca but Letiza kept waving & booking Queen Sofia's face.

After all the corruption and shenanigans in the Spanish Royal Family, Felipe probably should keep a certain distance if he wants to hold onto that crown! I like current King and Queen and their beautiful Infantas.
I'd have some sympathy for Sophia, her position is so awkward, but I think she's probably reaping what she sowed with Letizia.
My sympathies to anyone who has to go to a function with that man. I wonder if Letizia wants to kick him in the teeth more than the average royal since she's a formal journalist.

I'm not surprised. Letizia's mother is a registered nurse, presumably has flexibility to look after the girls, is close to her daughter, and isn't married to a complete twit. Considering how Sofia has behaved towards her daughter-in-law, I'm guessing Felipe took a step back to protect his family from his bratty mama and dippy dad.
