“¿Por qué no te callas?”
My ringtone is the reggaeton remix of the Juan Carlos/Hugo Chavez/Zapatero exchange.

I saw Prince Felipe at the Springsteen show in Madrid Sunday night. Tall, handsome, cannot dance to save his life. Oh well, two out of three ain't bad.

I think the tabloids made up Felipe with Paltrow. I read some tabloid story about how Queen Sofia was delighted and was welcoming Paltrow into the family, which is enough to prompt hysterical laughter. Nobody was good enough for Sofia. She nixed one of Felipe's girlfriends--a perfectly acceptable wealthy Spanish girl--because the girl's parents were divorced. Over Sofia's cold, dead body would a non-Catholic American actress with a string of famous ex-boyfriends and nude photos be allowed anywhere near the palace.
Letizia squeaked through, but only after huge fights and Felipe finally putting his foot down with his parents. I liked Infanta Cristina's technique--she said if they wouldn't let her marry the handball player, she'd just move in with him and start having babies out of wedlock. Next thing you know, Juan Carlos was walking her down the aisle.

Oh I'm sure that Gwyneth would never have made it past the handshake stage of a relationship...she's got far too much baggage for that family to accept. And she's insufferable enough without HRH in front of her name.

Ginger, are you referring to Isabel Sartorius? I can't keep Felipe's exes straight. I think you're right about the tabloids making up Fishstick/Felipe pairing. Sofia would have flipped. I'm still surprised that Juan Carlos and Sofia accepted Letizia.
Cristina is my favorite. She seems very warm and normal.
[OT] Have any of you Spanish royal watchers been to the Cotilleando Punto Com boards? There's definitely a republican tilt, but it's entertaining. And the Hola magazine commentaries have made many bad days a little brighter.[/OT]

I think Princess Caroline of Monaco threatened the same thing when her mother and father objected to her relationship and marriage to Phillipe Junot.
I think for Sofia another royal would have been preferable. Ultimately though, it is ironic that someone more suitable than Letizia would be rejected and the Royal Family ended up with a divorcee.
Does anyone have an internet link to the Spanish Royal Family's official website?
