Just because some loonies on Fox made up a theory about Obama doesn't make it equivalent to what Trump and his cronies are actually laying ground work for. People aren't saying these things about Trump because they don't like his policies but because his policies literally lay the groundwork for these things to occur. I don't think the freaking ACA was a red carpet to ripping up the Constitution. And I have no idea what either of their wives have to do with this conversation.
Good for you that you don't think anything bad is going to happen under Trump. Good for you. Unfortunately, there are a lot of people who are going to be directly impacted by the crap he's lining up and cannot be so sanguine about it all. I think selling the US for parts and then working to maintain continual control is the probable playbook, and even just selling the US for parts is pretty alarming.

The loonies at Fox insisted groundwork was being laid too. I have not said I dont think anything bad is going to happen under Trump. Don't even have to go back and look - I'm certain I haven't said it, because I don't think it. But not thinking that does not mean that I am going to fall for every possible theory of anything bad that can happen. I am going to choose reason. I am going to look at the law, consider what would have to happen for things to happen and take it from there. Failure to back Ukraine - big concern because it can easily be done. Amending the Constitution -- I can't work out in my mind how that realistically gets done. If you have, I"m all ears.

Obama was a constitutional law scholar who actually seemed to love the country, despite the s#!t that was constantly thrown at him by the GOP and half the citizenry. The fact that anyone would believe the theory that he'd run for a third term is a sad commentary on the lack of education in the US and the incredible spread of mis- and dis-information by the right. The "Don't trust the mainstream media" message started subtly with Reagan, blew up with Palin, and just got worse from there. T***p tells us constantly that he doesn't care about norms, laws, tradition, or common sense. He told a crowd that if they voted for him in 2024, they won't have to vote again. He has said multiple times that he will pardon the J6 crowd. If he's still alive in 2028, he'll run.

I think that it shows people will believe bad things about people they don’t support. That doesn’t mean bad people don’t do bad things - Trump proves that. But bad people doing bad things does not mean every bad thing predicted proves to be true.

This and not being a medical profession should be torching his chances! Actually: almost none of the Secretaries of HHS have been medical professionals in any way. I was surprised by this too- but if you look at the last 10-12 only 2 had any medical degrees of any kind! (only 1 had ANY medical experience in the past 35 years- and it was under Trump! for about 5 minutes- I had to go back to the late 80's to find another secretary of HHS that had any medical experience or education) I went back to the early 2000's- for 20+ years almost never has the head of HHS had any medical experience. 1989- GB the 1st as president- Louis Sullivan - actually has very thorough medical experience! 1993- BC as president- Donna Shalala as HHS- phd in public affairs. 2001- GB as president- Tommy Thompson as head of HHS- law degree 2005- GB as president- Mike Leavitt as head of HHS- has a business degree 2009- BO as president- Kathleen Sebelius as HHS- political science degree- masters in administration 2014- BO as president- Sylvia Burwell HHS- degrees in politics, economics, and philosophy. 2017- DT as president- Tom Price as HHS- he actually has a MD! (he didn't last long though) 2018- DT as president- Alex Azar HHS- law degree 2021- JB as president- Xavier Becerra HHS- law degree

Thanks for the info, dragonflie. I still find having an anti-vaxxer and conspiracy theorist in control of HHS deeply troubling.

From our friends at the Alt National Parks Service:
What prompted SCOTUS to revive it? If they're meddling for meddling sake, then this could just be the first of many shitty rulings they make.

I think that's part of the "stripping for parts" equation. Open public lands for mining, drilling, and logging to make money now with no safeguards for the future.
