We really do ask that people don't fight fires with another fire around here. A few "off topic" posts aren't going to break the bank, so to speak, but if a thread is titled "Britney Spears", the topic needs to be Britney Spears, not Al Gore's grades. You are always welcome to take any political discussions to PM or exchange email addresses so that you can hammer each other that way.
And, ALL points of view are welcome here. We don't care if you're pro or con something or someone. It does help to qualify a comment or an opinion using "IMO" or "IMHO", just so others get that you don't think that your POV is the only POV around, or the most absolutely correct POV. There is NO SUCH THING as the "correct" or the "right" POV.
Thanks for asking.

crabbypatty, could you provide some examples please? It sounds from your posts that you believe this is a serious and pervasive problem but the mods are having trouble finding anything beyond the occasional comment which, as Brookie and I have pointed out, isn't a big issue here. If there is a serious problem here, we need to know about it.

Thank you for responding Brookie & Oxynia. I appreciate it. Oh I understand that all POV's are welcomed here. But it wouldn't occur to me to interject politics into a perfectly snarky discussion about a celeb. I've been under the assumption that's not OK anyway. And I don't want to pm or email anyone w/a political discussion. I don't want to talk politics here. This is a fun place. Yet is happens a lot where people toss in comments about "that moron in the white house" or how "scarey" the GOP is. Is that stuff OK?
Oxy you asked for examples: Just for instance in the Britney Spears thread there's that link in post #416 that isn't really a snark on Brit n' Shit, it's a slam on the current administration. I'm not even sure what #436 (same thread) is about. I just saw another reference to the "scarey GOP," and I remembered that I had to check back over here.
Those are the only 2 that have raised my ire in the last few days but admittedly there are only 2 threads I'm reading right now. lol I'm sure I could find more anti-Bush comments out there, but I don't have the time (plus I feel like a dork for mentioning this stuff).
Thank you guys/girls for your time. =)

crabbypatty, I think Brookie and I have already addressed the issue of occasional political references, from any persuasion, in our previous posts. The examples you cited pretty much fall into that category. If a thread escalates into politics or someone is trolling (such as intentionally steering the conversation toward to the same subject with the goal of provoking an argument), we will intercede and if needed, ban the offender. But really, we cannot raise a stink over every single isolated comment made when the poster is not hijacking a thread over politics or trolling. That is impractical in a public forum, to say the least.
Thanks for your comments but I think we can put this one to rest now.

I have a question. Is OJ Simpson considered a celebrity here? I think he falls into the grey area of 'slebdom, and I can't find a thread on him. Before I start one, I wanted to make sure. He has this new book that's coming out that'd I'd like to discuss with the CPMCoG'ers.
Thanks!

OJ meets the criteria for a celebrity; I think at one time, we had a thread on him. He's a sleazy, scumbag, bullshitting liar - but he does meet the criteria. (And, I hope you're not a relative of his or something!!)

I have an idea for a new thread in the General Interest or All About Us threads: Could we have a good vibes thread? If someone has a job interview, a thesis defense, a sick loved one, they could post that request for good vibes and the poster could summon the amazing Power Of The Greecies. What say you, Oh Great Ones?

I like the idea, ziv. Kinda like a Greecie Prayer Line.
