I think Grohl (and Krist, too) is wise to continue to just keep clear and quiet about Courtney and her antics. Because really, when someone is so obviously off-the-rails insane, it's not like sitting down and having a calm conversation about facts versus Batshit is going to be possible, much less effective. Ditto a lawsuit; even if it IS slander, no one really believes the crap she spews, and a lawsuit would only poke the crazy twenty times more. Or, as Gramma used to say, "The more you shake the shit, the worse it stinks." The only realistic thing to do is let Courtney continue to build sandcastles of crazy in her sandbox. We all already know it's actually a shit-filled litter pan. Pointing that out to her wouldn't work.

And, because it bears repeating... poor Frances.

I never really got into Hole's music, but there really was a raw power (not just Alanis-gratuitous rage) about some of their stuff. I should go back and give a listen some more. The last time I listened to "Doll Parts," I was surprised at how well it's stood up.

Dave probably hasn't even seen Frances since she was in diapers. I agree that a lawsuit wouldn't help. It would be better not to give any attention to her batshit crazy delusions.

I dug up my old Hole Unplugged CD the other night, because hearing "He Hit Me" on Mad Men made me want to hear Courtney's cover again. She really did have a lot of talent. It's sad how her life has turned out.

I think beyond writing I'll Stick Around, Dave hasn't said much if anything about Courtney in public in years. He doesn't need to really.

I would guess it's because he's more of a successful/public figure than Krist. Although, I think Kurt and Krist were much more close and knew each other much longer than Dave.

From what I remember in reading one of the books about Nirvana a looooong time ago, Dave had known Courtney before she met Kurt (he was their mutual acquaintance) and knew all about her dramatic games. When Kurt and Courtney got together he wasn't supportive of their relationship. At. All. Krist reluctantly accepted her because Kurt loved her, while Dave didn't even try to pretend that he couldn't stand her. I could be remembering it all wrong, but I think that's the gist of it.

Jealousy's definitely part of it. She hates that he's popular and well-liked and respected as a musician and making a lot of money. She also knows she gets more attention when she attacks Dave because he's famous and Krist is not.
