Adjusts tinfoil hat, looks under desk and whispers, Of course Doll Parts still stands, KURT really wrote it! I think so too.

God, this. How sad to have to release a statement like that about your own mom.

That said, Frances is really kind of shockingly awesome.

She definitely seems to target Dave more than Krist. I wonder why that is. Is it because Dave still has a successful music career? Jealousy? From what I remember in reading one of the books about Nirvana a looooong time ago, Dave had known Courtney before she met Kurt (he was their mutual acquaintance) and knew all about her dramatic games. When Kurt and Courtney got together he wasn't supportive of their relationship. At. All. Krist reluctantly accepted her because Kurt loved her, while Dave didn't even try to pretend that he couldn't stand her. I could be remembering it all wrong, but I think that's the gist of it. This is from Michael Azerrad's Nirvana bio (published in '93). Then, it goes on to say that she told Dave she had a crush on Kurt and she gave him some gifts to give to him, which he did. It doesn't sound like he disliked her at all at that time. As for whether Kurt wrote Doll Parts or anything else on Live Through This...I've always thought that they inspired each other musically and there was probably a lot of sharing going on. It happens when artists live together. The funny thing is that no ever suggests that he might have been inspired by her. Just look at how much more lyrical In Utero is than Nevermind. She was much, much better at writing lyrics than he was. He also couldn't possibly have written some of the songs on LTT, since she was playing some of them live before she'd even met him. (Former Hole bootleg collector here). ETA: Frances Bean's statement is well said. Good for her.

Could she be more disconnected from this woman? You've really made a mess of your life and your family, Courtney. Good for you, Frances! Stay as far away from her as possible!

Heart Shaped Box and Pennyroyal Tea. Courtney inspired the former and cowrote the latter. I always felt for Krist. He seemed like he really loved Kurt and Courtney divided them. (Having been suicidial myself I relate to Cobain and his music emotionally) Anyway, Courtney. Nutcase.

Courtney has claimed she co-wrote Pennyroyal Tea. Unless Kurt said it somewhere, I believe it as much as I believe Slash stole Courtney's shoes.
The Hole song "Old Age" was released in 1993 and it says "written by Hole" on the record. Kurt wrote the song and there's a recording of him singing it (with his own lyrics) in 1991. He must not have cared about Courtney taking his songs and not giving him credit.
And even Courtney admits Kurt worked quite a bit on Live Through This. She said it was because he hated Dave and Krist so much and thought her band was more talented (Good one, Courtney).
Dave Grohl once made a crack about Courtney not writing Hole's music. It may have just been a joke, but after the accusation she just made against him, I choose to believe him.

It's been a really long time since I've listened to any Nirvana or Hole stuff, but I've heard Kurt's version of Old Age and I've heard Hole's version and they're extremely different. Here, I decided to dig up youtube clips of both: Kurt's and Courtney's. I prefer Hole's version because, like I said before, I think Courtney had a lot of talent when it came to writing lyrics. YMMV. There are other Hole versions of Old Age out there but the one from the Beautiful Son EP is my favorite. I definitely believe Kurt made contributions to LTT (as I said in my previous post) and I believe Courtney made contributions to In Utero. If you want to believe he wrote the entire album, then go right ahead. I don't see how it makes a difference anymore. He's dead and CL's nearly there herself.

Even if Courtney is a cuckoo liar, I still trust Eric Eralandson enough to believe him when he says that Kurt little to do with the recording of Live Through This. The people who claim Kurt wrote all of Live Through This were never any more credible than Courtney to me.
