Courtney is headed to court for defamation via twitter against her former lawyer. And it may be a precedent-setting case. Nirvana is being inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in April and it will be interesting to see what role Courtney will play in the ceremony. Family members usually go to that, but most family members normally don't have such a vicious relationship with the band. And if Frances Bean wants to go, she's still got that permanent restraining order out against her mother... I've been catching up on some Nirvana biographies. Everybody Loves Our Town: An Oral History of Grunge is really good. It's amazing how prevalent heroin was among all those Seattle bands, and how routine an occurrence nonfatal OD's were. Courtney, who has apparently given up on both music and acting, was supposed to have an autobiography out in time for Christmas (with the very predictable title "Died Blonde"). My guess is it's being delayed while her ghostwriter attempts to reconcile all the conflicting fictions Courtney has come up with through the years.

If they have any brains at all, they'll invite Frances Bean and leave Courtney the hell out of it.

I was excited to hear they were being inducted. I hope Frances B. goes so Courtney is forced to stay away.

Yes, Frances should definitely get an invite over Courtney. Plus, the induction is about the other band members too, not just Kurt, and I'm sure they would want Frances there instead.

Oh my God. Nirvana is old enough to be inducted? Holy shit. I am old as hell.
Yes, Frances should be there, and not Courtney.

I agree she shouldn't be allowed although I'll bet if it's televised, the promoters would want to have her there to generate buzz. It would be the trainwreck of the century. Also, it would amuse me to see KISS not get the attention that they don't deserve.
I didn't think she'd given up on music - she toured this summer under her own name, not Hole.

I don't get why Courtney shouldn't be there. Isn't she technically Kurt Cobain's widow? Why should a child go instead of the widow?

Krist and Dave absolutely despise her and lawsuits have flown back and forth since Kurt died. I think Kurt's mom and daughter are more "appropriate" as representatives of Kurt than crazy attention-seeker Courtney. But this is the rock 'n'roll hall of fame so I would bet money she'll be there.

Courtney is at war with all of the surviving members of Nirvana, she's at war with Kurt's only child (with whom she legally can't be in the same room) and she's at war with Kurt's other surviving family members. (Courtney tweeted at Frances that her grandmother "killed your father".) She's also at war with several of the bands who might potentially be asked to induct Nirvana. I think special circumstances warrant an invitation being withheld. I didn't think she'd given up on music - she toured this summer under her own name, not Hole. I haven't paid much attention to Courtney's various "comeback" albums and tours over the past few years because it always seems to be the same thing - half-assed album, followed by a few half-assed shows where she barely even bothers to play. I read this review of her "disastrous" 9:30 club show in 2010 which pretty much sums it up. Courtney's only interest in music these days is as a vehicle for her to keep herself in the spotlight, and the effort she puts in is minimal. I read Kennedy's memoir (MTV v-jay) a while ago and the chapters on Courtney are hysterical. Kennedy was friends with Trent Reznor back in 1994 when he had his ill-advised fling with Courtney. After Trent broke it off, Courtney was calling up Kennedy "like a crazed, caged rabid ferret" yelling about Trent's small penis, pleading with her/threatening her for information, and planting information she wanted to get back to Trent. There was something about Trent buying a house in New Orleans, and Courtney attempting to swoop in and buy the house with cash just to spite him.

Didn't Courtney also spend Nirvana money that was supposed to go to Frances Bean when she hit a certain age?
As a histrionic addict personality, or whatever she is (narcissist? sociopath?) this woman is going to have a meltdown when this thing happens regardless of where she is. It just depends on whether or not the Rock 'n' Roll Hall of Fame wants it there. Honestly, I hope not. The surviving members of Nirvana won't want her there. Her kid, who she abused, won't. She's just a sad mess at this point.
