Courtney Love without the grudges just isn't Courtney Love anymore. I don't think she's capable of existing without them.

But what about the 78 guitars Eric stole from her and the $298,000 he ran up on her credit card? I guess Courtney forgave him! Bless her heart.

Late to comment but as an old Nirvana fan, I'm happy they're in the RnR hall of fame. As a person who has suffered depression, I related to Cobain. He killed himself with both a heroin overdose and a shotgun blast to the face. Unlike most of us depressive types, he showed initiative and follow through. As a shallow person easily entertained, I'm looking forward to Courtney losing her shit.

I read Kennedy's memoir (MTV v-jay) a while ago and the chapters on Courtney are hysterical. Kennedy was friends with Trent Reznor back in 1994 when he had his ill-advised fling with Courtney. After Trent broke it off, Courtney was calling up Kennedy "like a crazed, caged rabid ferret" yelling about Trent's small penis, pleading with her/threatening her for information, and planting information she wanted to get back to Trent. There was something about Trent buying a house in New Orleans, and Courtney attempting to swoop in and buy the house with cash just to spite him. Ginger, I'm so glad that you mentioned Kennedy's book. I checked it out of the library and am really enjoying it. Kennedy also mentions that Courtney had Kennedy's phone number, and gave it out at a concert so Kennedy had to change her number. Alos, Courtney was ranting about Trent R's allegedly small penis, and he gave her the only response she never expected - silence. No response at all.

Looks like I've got a book to add to my reading list.

My favorite from the book was the first time Kennedy met Courtney at the VMA's - Courtney said, "Let me fix your lipstick" and reached out with her "nubby hot dog fingers" and smeared Kennedy's lipstick all around her face. It was that dark red lipstick that doesn't really come off of skin and Kennedy had to be on camera. Such a randomly bitchy thing to do.

I was intrigued by mentions of Kennedy's memoir in this thread and did a Google search on it, and came across this anecdote about Love. That link is from the "Today" show and has stories about other celebs, too. ETA: Coding.

Yes, that kind of haunts me to this day. They were so, so close. And that's such a bad way to say goodbye.
I want to hear more about what Tobi Vail has to say about Kurt. She knew/dated him just as he was starting to slide into addiction. I've read the Everett True book. And you kind of have to admire her for not writing/talking about him. It would have been an easy check for her. I even read "Letters to Kurt" by Eric Erlandson a few months ago.
Gen X Nostalgia Buffs: Might I also recommend "Sound City" a doc film by Dave Grohl about the studio they recorded Nevermind in (and several other bands, like Fleetwood Mac used). It's an interesting perspective when they were just starting. And a really good movie to boot.

Looks like I've got a book to add to my reading list. Me too. So far I've enjoyed the snippets I've read.

Just chiming in to second the "Sound City" recommendation. That was a great movie.
