Yeah, I saw her photo on Style.com yesterday. She and Jenna Lyons gave reviews of items. She looked very surgeried (I wouldn't have recognized her) but clean and healthy.

Live Through This is a great record. Yeah, it is the sound of my youth and I'm old, but that's a desert island record for me. But yes, to fully appreciate it, you probably need to have lived through the horror that was the 80s.

OMG I feel old. Can't tell you how many CDs of classics like "A Pocketfull of Kryptonite" and "I am an Elastic Firecracker" I've seen at Value Village (a chain of thrift stores here.) I can't help wondering about the previous owners, where they are now, and how their musical tastes have changed, and if they are comfortable treating music as strictly a downloadable, which I am not. Chiqui, sorry I made you feel old! I think my expectations of Live Through This were too high. Although I have to wonder if it would've received the same amount of acclaim without the Cobain connection. I've given away CDs to places like Value Village - sometimes because I outgrew them, but mostly because I bought the remastered versions so the originals became expendable. I think a lot of people still buy CDs.

Yeah, I loved Live Through This (I actually listened to it the other day out of nostalgia), but I don't know if I would like it so much if I were heard it for the first time now. It definitely helped to have a lot of teen angst while listening.

I did find the album's lyrics to be full of angst and a bit disjointed too, which I guess is just Courtney being Courtney. All of that is fine, but I did the math and Courtney was 30 when Live Through This came out! Thirty! I read that some of the songs were written earlier but she still would've been mid-to-late twenties by then. Thirty!! Hopefully her lyrics have evolved over time.

I still think I wanna be the girl with the most cake and I fake it so real I am beyond fake are great lines. But the wailing of some day you will ache like I ache is very middle school, and I always cringed a little at that part. Most of the songs on Live Through This could be pop good songs if produced with a different sound.

Loved Live Through This, it was on constant rotation during my college years. It's the only Hole album I truly liked (Celebrity Skin had a few good tracks but wasn't as cohesive IMO.) I do wonder how much Kurt contributed. It is very Nirvana sounding and I remember a lot of shade thrown her way at the time implying that Kurt wrote everything. I don't think he did everything but his influence is definitely there. I still love Violet and Miss World.

I think the Nirvana sound had more to do with the production value. In addition to Violet, Miss World, and Doll Parts, Asking For It, Jennifer's Body and Softer Softest are also well written songs IMO. But the greatest thing about Live Through This was the album cover. It's perfection.

I am the one person in the world who hated Live Through This and loved Celebrity Skin.

I loved her "Nobody's Daughter" record from 2011. I thought she showed a lot of growth, and thought it merited more attention than what it got.
I find Courtney so frustrating. She's intelligent, interesting, and I find her to be musically talented; however her asshole tendencies, caused by addiction, personality, ego, etc., discredit the positives she brings to the table.
