When I was shopping the other day in Spencers I noticed a Kurt Cobain doll and some other ridiculous crass merchandise and was wondering if CL had something to do with that to make more money. No doubt if KC was in a grave he'd be rolling in it. I don't understand who would buy a Kurt Cobain doll.

It's all to do with the deal she did with Larry Mestel for a portion of her Nirvana licensing rights. Rolling Stone estimates he paid around $50 million for a piece of that pie. So look forward to all those Nirvana ringtones, ad jingles, etc. Makes me a bit sick really.
I lost any remaining respect for her when she pimped out Kurt's journals. And I have little patience for her role as the long-suffering widow who is entitled to use his image or works b/c "well, he killed himself."
This is the person who wanted Nirvana to headline Lollopalooza in 94 despite the terrible shape Kurt was in b/c it was good money. I think the idea that she gets a pass for all her recent crap b/c she can blame it on her husband's suicide is hilarious when you consider that she was a fame-driven, psychotic drug fiend long before she met Kurt, and has simply continued that behavior since his death.
As far as her music goes, she isn't much of a musician or a songwriter. Never has been. She's a decent lyricist with a provocative performance schtick. Not unlike Madonna.

I liked one song that Hole did, a long time ago. I can't remember the name of it, though. I'm not a fan of her antics. But then again, maybe I'm just jealous. Hubby has the hots for her--when she's grungy, not when she's clean and bathed. Sigh.

Why would Frances have to wait until she's 25? Why not when she's 18? This happens quite regularly when large amounts of money is involved. Often, they recipient may get a chunk when they turn 18 but it's then divided up over the years. (i.e. some at 18, another installment when you hit 25 (there may even be a stipulation about getting a college degree), then the rest at 35) It's a smart thing to do... Can you imagine what little motivation an 18-year old would have if they just knew they would be inheriting a vast amount of money when they turned 18? Or, they could just blow it before they realize what they did. [/quote] I regularly check the Athena Onassis thread. She's the living example of what a hyoooge inheritance can do to a teenager.

Thing is, with Courtney's money problems, there may not even be a hyooooge inhertance for Frances. Mom's drug habit has eaten up a lot of money, and since Mom doesn't work, the income has to come from Daddy's estate.

A former co-worker of mine liked her in her initial rocker form. It was really before all the stuff about her being a big fame-whore came out, and sort of around the time pop was coming back in. He just like that she was a good old fashioned messed up rock star.

Was I the only one here that watched the VH-1 special RockDoc last night, 'The Return of Courtney Love'?
You know I had to.
It was confirmed on the show that the rumor that 'America's Sweetheart' didn't get proper promo was because Courtney had coke up her nose the whole time. Linda Perry confirmed it. She said Courtney and "her friend". Wonder which friend?
The show also said she sold out for $50 million to an "independent investor". Courtney said that she had no money. None. Broke-ola. She was very candid about that.
Linda Perry, Billy Corgan, Francis, and Carrie Fisher were on the show also.
I only saw part of the show. I'll watch the rest later on.
Oh yeah. IMHO she was always an active drug addict. Since jump. I'll bet she hasn't gone 6 months completely clean, ever. I don't know how she's still alive.
I'm really glad to see her out and about, doing stuff again. Name-dropping as always - did you know that when she chants, she chants for Lindsay Lohan and Kate Moss, too?
She's a trip!

Back when Courtney still posted crazy messages on the web she used to claim that people "stole" Frances' inheritance and so the girl had nothing. In reality I'm sure the money wasn't "stolen" but rather frittered away by Courtney and gone up her nose/into her veins.

So she's still in Nichiren Shoshu? A lot of good it's done her.
