Anyone read her new book yet?
I don't believe she's off drugs now either. She's just using different drugs. Her eyes look so tranquilized recently.
The most frustrating thing about her is that she's either a pathological liar or is completely delusional. That story about Mel Gibson trying to help her clean up? I'm sure that's as true as the story about her and Nicole Kidman in the elevator.

I love her music but she just bugs the hell out of me.

Was I the only one here that watched the VH-1 special RockDoc last night, 'The Return of Courtney Love' Nope. I watched it on Sunday. I find her narcissism endlessly fascinating. Moreso than Madonna. I loved the scene where she goes on about these hideous shoes of which only 10 pair exist in the whole universe. They're ugly, red beaded pumps that I could find at any Macy's. She name drops the other supposed owners including Julia Roberts, Gwyneth Paltrow and Elton John. Man, I would love for the documentarian to fact check some of her insane delusions. I will say that I hope Frances comes through this okay. It's obvious that Courtney truly loves her, but she still seems like such a mess. Like Judy Garland.

I saw an interview with him where he says that he went to her hotel room with hamburgers to tempt her to come out. Something about him pounding on the door for awhile until she finally came out. Supposedly she was in there with a bunch of druggie hangers-on and Mel got her away from them.

I watched the doc and got the vibe off Frances that she was used to caretaking her mom, being the adult. I think Frances = Liza rather than Judy.

Sorry if the sentence was mangled. I totally got a Liza Minelli vibe from Frances. Courtney is a sad, post modern Judy Garland. Even when she's "sober", she's still a mess.

Is Frances musically inclined? I kind of hope she's not, because then she really could end up like Liza.
ETA: What is Nichiren Shoshu?

The Buddhist religion she belongs to. That's what the chanting is about.

chiqui,
From what I could gather, she said basically that she tried them all, even $ci. However Buddism was what she went back to b/c ultimately that's what worked for her.
She said she chanted and got Kurt, Francis, fame, ect. Everything she wanted.
Then she dropped the practice.
She went back to it and received a relationship with Edward Norton, film fame, ect. Everything she wanted.
Again she dropped the practice.
She's back at it again, since it is what worked for her - in her view.
My question is: was it the chanting that worked for her or the fact that one has to be at least semi-disciplined to remember to chant, ect. that got her what she wanted?
Maybe she got what she wanted because they were times in her life where she had discipline and focus for a short while at least. She attributes it to chanting, though. I guess if it doesn't work for her she can always go back to $ci!
I'm sure they'd love to have her. Maybe she can jump CTC's bones and give him the ride of his life!
Hee!

One of my mom's best friends, of all people (mom's Catholic), lent me a book about Nichiren Buddhism a couple of months ago. It's called The Buddha in Your Mirror and has a forword by Herbie Hancock and some stuff about Tina Turner practicing while getting out from under Ike Turner's control. I finally picked it up and read it about 3 weeks ago and started chanting last week, felt really goofy at first. But it seems like a pretty direct form of meditation and the meaning of Nam Myho Renge Kyo, which is the primary chant I think, seems to make sense. At least it seems to get my thoughts off worrying about stuff at least for the time being -- doing five minutes minimum twice a day is what the book recommends. I'll see if I can keep it up longer than I have trying to follow my pilates dvd regularly.
