Wow, ironically just last month I had Googled her, because I love Bosom Buddies and I Wanna Hold Your Hand and wondered what had happened to her. I read about her battle with cancer and am really sad she died.

Oh wow. I always considered her one of the few in Hollywood who had the strength to stay heavier than the average actress. Her passing makes me all weepy for some reason. I guess I weirdly thought she looked like someone who would make a cool friend. So damn sad...

Oh, what a shame! Rest in peace, sweet lady. You will be missed.
Yes, she did an episode of Will & Grace. If I recall correctly it was something like her being hired as a housekeeper and then Grace discovered she had design talent. Grace felt like she was losing her talent so she wanted Wendie to design a special window display (or was it a contest design entry?).

As soon as I saw this thread and knew what it was going to say. RIP, Wendy.

Gawd, she was funny and adorable. I loved to watch Bosom Buddies and was mighty pissed when Babes was cancelled! Us chubbies are cute and funny too, dammit!
Sometimes, I think I'm the only one in the world that enjoyed 1941.

Oh, so sad. She was always one of my favorites too. I loved her Bosom Buddies character and always was annoyed that Peter Scolari's character wouldn't just give in and love her back. RIP.

Babes-was that the show about her and her two sisters, and they had a lot of fat jokes?
I remember a guest role she had on Designing Women as a photographer, and she helped them make a calender.
But I didn't know she was in BTTF!

Guin, she was Marty's older sister.
Hence the Linda McFly reference.

The cancer support organization she set up, WeSPARK, is phenomenal. They do unbelievable good work for people with cancer and their families, and untraditional stuff like drumming circles. She did a great job of corraling people she worked with - like Tom Hanks - into supporting WeSpark. She lived in my neighborhood and people were always excited to see her out and about, more so because of what she was doing for the community than because she was a celebrity.
Longer ago than I care to admit, I used to take a dance class with her. This was before she got sick. She was a terrific dancer and there was something so joyful about seeing her nail a routine surrounded by women half her size.
The fun of these boards is to snark on celebs who turn themselves into human punch lines. WJS was the exact opposite - someone who used their fame for good, not evil. She famewhored for the right reasons - to get wealthy people to give money to a great cause. If there is a glorious afterlife that is pure paradise, this woman is there.
RIP, Wendie Jo. You will be missed.
