What? NO THREAD FOR HER? Seriously?!!!! I went back a whole 300 days and nada. I'm in shock!

This woman deserves her own thread, not just because she's bloody brilliant but also because she's had the misfortune of being inflicted with Lindsay Lohan in a film. How the hell did that happen? Does Meryl really deserve that after her brilliant career?

In any event, I thought she looked lovely at the Oscars and tonight I saw Prime, co-starring Uma Thurman. It wasn't bad and was actually quite funny at times, but that was all because of Meryl. She really made the movie and has a quiet flair for comedic timing which rather surprised me.

So, what are your favorite Meryl films? For me, French Lieutenant's Woman probably beats out Sophie's Choice for first place, but only by a tiny squeak.

Her brother taught at my high school. Never got any gossip though. But I do love Streep in comedies, she was fantabulous in Death Becomes Her and that one with Roseanne she did. She played an author who steals Roseannes husband.

My favorite moment was at last year's Golden Globes when she was presenting. She got up, gave this evil, sly sort of smile, and said, in a fakesy sweet voice, "Congratulations, Natalie." It was just so funny and she obviously doesn't take herself as seriously as most people would think.

Meryl Streep is amazing. I had the great fortune of meeting her. It was during the Academy Award rehersals the year she was up for Adaptation. I saw her and ultimately decided I had to go say hi to her. I let her know how much I admired her, etc. and she could not have been any nice to me and my friend. We even took a picture with her. It was one of the most amazing moments, and I remember it like it was yesterday. She is so humble and gracious, and so normal! She's just such a great actress, and she seems like a great person as well.

Love her to pieces....she looked fantastic at the Oscars, much improved from her sometimes matronly dresses. She looked smashing.

My favourite films, apart from the two you mentioned Kafka, are Out of Africa (one of my all-time fave movies) and the Deerhunter. She just brings an authenticity that few other actresses have ever matched. I think she's in a league of her own.

Oh, she is my absolute favorite actress.
I have to watch Out of Africa at least once a year. I love love love her performance in that but Sophie's Choice is amazing as well, and brings me. to. tears. everytime she has to make 'the choice'.
She is so elegant and beautiful. When I saw the clip of she and Lily Tomlin at Oscars, it made me realize that she really is in a class of her own. No one can touch her!

I think the fact that Queen Meryl didn't have a thread is a testimony to how low-key and awesome she is, despite her awesomeness. I actually haven't seen that many of her movies, but I'd like to. Death Becomes Her is my favorite movie, ever. Don't judge me. She was amazing in Sophie's Choice. I wish the movie itself had been better though, it had so much potential, but she was just phenomenal. I also loved her performance in Adaptation.

I remember that and it was hysterical. That quiet subtle humour and perfect timing were fully in evidence in Prime.

MrPancake, I love hearing stories about celebs who are nice in real life. But when that celeb is a legend like Meryl Streep, it's even better.

Oxynia, I agree about Out of Africa. Such a beautiful film. I think it would be 3rd on my list but then I think about "Kramer v. Kramer" and I'm torn. Another of my favorite Streep films is a small one she did a few years back which got little to no attention but was really heart-tugging. She played a violin teacher who needed to get a job after something or another happened to her so she applied at a school and she became the adored teacher of a lot of children whose lives she greatly influenced. I know it's a clichéd story line but she was wonderful in it. Plus, I'm a sucker for "Schoolteacher Takes On Unruly Kids and Changes All Their Lives" movies.

I wonder what her asking price is? We seem to know the price of young actresses like Horse-face, Reese or Gwhiney but not those of someone in Meryl's category. It's sad that the latter isn't paid more than the former.
