Ohh, too photoshopped! What's the point of an article about a lovely 60 year old woman aging gracefully - and then you photoshop her back to Kramer vs. Kramer days?

I found her quote about so many of her friends being dead or sick really sad. I mean, at 60?! Makes sense at like 80, even 70 --- but 60 seems too young for that.

txcowgirl, Meryl is probably of the generation that was blindsided by AIDS--she might be referring to that when she talks about friends who are gone? We lost a lot of good people, especially in the theater world.
She does look like her Kramer v. Kramer self in that cover pic!

I just watched Out of Africa again and was AGAIN struck by how absolutely lovely she looks in that film.

I have this reallly intense crush/admiration/intense reaction to Meryl Streep. She is just so vivid and interesting and she has a wise, classy, intelligence about her. I get all choked up watching the preview for that new comedy she's got coming out--lump in the throat. It's so weird. I felt that way all through Julie and Julia, too. I think I am touched in the head when Meryl is concerned!

So apparently Sharon Stone delivered a passive-aggressive swipe at Meryl Streep to a British magazine, while discussing how she (Sharon) has had no work done, as in plastic surgery. She said, "I think that’s why Meryl Streep is working so much, because she looks like a woman we can all relate to. Meryl looks like an unmade bed, and that’s what I look like. To me, that looks true.
Meaning, Meryl looks ordinary, like us regular schlubs and that's why she's popular. Her acting talent and ability to choose projects wisely are irrelevant. Not to mention her classic bone structure and fabulous skin; I think she's gorgeous.
Stone also blabbered on about how she never diets and loves burgers, blahblahblah, has to watch that she doesn't get too skinny because she's "a mover". Shut up.

Ok, Sharon is actually asking the world to believe she's never had plastic surgery? Please, we have eyes! It's very bad plastic surgery but she's had it done. But I guess you have to explain how you look so rough somehow!
Meryl is unusual looking but I think she's quite attractive. Her unusual looks helps her stand out which certainly works in her favor in Hollywood but it's not the only reason why she's so popular. She can act. She generally chooses good projects and even if the projects aren't so hot she's usually the best thing about it. That goes back to the whole "She can act!" thing. Finally, Meryl comes across as sane and normal in interviews. She has a sense of humor about herself and can admit her flaws.
It's bitter grapes from Sharon. Meryl is older than her yet looks much younger (the joys of actually eating!) and has a much better career. Meryl is probably going to get another Oscar nomination this year while Sharon is reduced to doing episodes of Law & Order: SVU. She needs to face it. The reason why she does not have Meryl's popularity is because her acting abilities are limited and she comes across as crazy and mean-spirited in interviews.

I was just talking to my BIL the other day about Meryl Streep, and how all these young, pathetic actresses (Megan Fox) are running out and getting procedures done and trying to be the next hot thing while intelligent women like MS succeeded because of their talent and determination. Love her.

For someone that loves to blather about her superior IQ Sharon Stone sure is an idiot. As for Meryl:Unlike alot of people I don't think she's the greatestactressthateverlived! (I think Vanessa Redgrave and a few others are actually better.) However, I really like how comfortable she is with herself. Maybe it's because she's so insanely successful and respected. Maybe it's because she was a cheerleader and prom queen and thus never had those weird actressy insecurities associated with her adolescence. Regardless, she just seems like a really cool woman and a good example to younger woman regarding things like self-confidence, aging and career management.
