That's funny - I love CZJ for the same reasons. I love that she's all "I'm a Stah, dammit!" But I guess I respect that because I know she worked her butt off to get there and now she's enjoying it. All Paris has done is flash her cha-cha and was lucky enough to have the last name "Hilton" and the bank account that goes along with that. She hasn't "earned" anything.
I can certainly see how the trailer park stuff can bug, and that's part of what bugs me about Jennifer Garner (even though I like her too). She also plays up the "golly, gee-whiz! I'm just a gal from West Virginia! I don't know how I got here!" stuff. She worked hard to get to where she is and she should own that. She doesn't have to go all glammed-up "Stah" like CZJ if that isn't her thing, but own the hard work and drive that made you successful.
Hilary doesn't bug me as much on that front because I haven't heard it as much from her - perhaps because she simply isn't in the public eye all that much. I also really admire the fact that as a teenager she told her mom she really wanted to try to be an actress, so her mom said "okay, let's go to LA and give it a shot" and darn it, she made it. I've only heard comments from those who work with her that she's intelligent and driven, and I guess that's why she really doesn't bug me too much. She doesn't tell the public "I'm just a down-home girl. I'm real." then turns around and acts like a spoiled diva on sets and such (like I've heard of J-Lo and Ashley Judd).

I have to admit I have never seen her in anything but 90210, and don't really plan to. She just bores the hell out of me. She's got this earnestness that bugs. I totally agree with those who see her "gosh golly gee I'm just a simple girl" act as a fake. And for every person who says Julia Roberts has a horse face, there are 100 horses that look up and whinny Hilary's name. I mean, the teeth, people! Just stick a bit and bridle on her and be done with it! ETA and with a new man already. That was quick.

What did I tell you. These Hollywood people drop and start relationships in a wink of an eye.
So I could care less about any of them.

I believe she and Chad Lowe have been informally separated for awhile.
I've looked at the pics, and I'm just not getting a "new boyfriend" vibe from this guy. If I didn't know any better, I'd say he was her driver or something. Just my opinion. I could be wrong.

I can't help but be annoyed by the speculation that Hilary and Chad split because he no longer wanted to be "Mr. Swank." Do people--even Hollywood people--end MARRIAGES for such superficial reasons? I have to think that there's a lot more going on than they're willing to reveal. I mean, really: Do people ACTUALLY fall out of love, or lose the desire to be together, ONLY because one of them is more successful than the other?

As far as I'm concerned, everybody who was in Boys Don't Cry gets a huge pass from me, but Hilary especially gets one. I saw that movie after she won the Oscar for it, after I knew who she was and about her husband, and I still could not believe I was watching the same person. Like, she was unrecognizable, and not in a stunt-performance way either.

I think people comment on that because that is the part of their marriage we can see. We can see that Hilary has been very successful while Chad has had modest success. We can't really comment on things that happen only between them. But while I do think Hollywood people and even regular people sometimes end marriages for such superficial reasons, I do agree that there was probably more going on. And it does seem like they tried to work it out and did the "trial separation" thing before finally calling it quits, which is more than a lot of celebs seem to do.

Even Chloe Sevigny, Mutagen? Even Chloe?
My issue isn't her down-home cred in general, but that being all, "I'm just a girl from the trailer park...I have no clue what I did to get here or what I did to deserve this..." as you're standing on stage receiving your second Oscar in five years is more than a little disingenuous. Because she pretty much stopped being that trailer park girl five years ago and became a typical Hollywood player, as evidenced by the rest of her robotic speech - publicist/best friend, producer, other nominees, editor, etc, etc.
There's a time and a place where I'll buy it and that's not it. It frankly seemed like an act to me because she very quickly segued into total rote mode. I can't find her first speech online, so I don't know if she expressed the same sentiments back then (I remembered her given Brandon Teena a shout-out), but I would have no issue if she had - because she was still a nobody from a trailer park and not Oscar-winner Hilary Swank.
