I did a 200-day search for him and found he didn't have his own thread, so thought I'd ask if anyone had gossip on him. He's an intense actor and I enjoy some of his films, like Rodger Dodger, but he also plays slightly creepy characters. I know he's George C. Scott's son but that's about it. Any stories about what he's like in real life?

He's also the son of Colleen Dewhurst (aka Marilla Cuthbert and Avery Brown). I've always liked Campbell Scott, and it's really hard to get info about him. I know he's divorced, he's got a son, and he was dating Patricia Clarkson. They seemed like a really sweet couple, but I think they broke up.

Was he with Patricia Clarkson for a long time? I love her. I can also see the two of them together.
I checked IMDb to see if they had anything on his romantic life. Nothing. But I did find the following, which I think is quite cool in terms of family continuity:

A 200-day search? Holy cow, that's impressive!
I don't have any gossip about him either. But he is now and has always been my dream future husband. ;D

I never knew he dated Patricia Clarkson. Too bad they broke up (?) because that sounds like an extremely cool relationship. For some reason (well, because they do a lot of movies together) I always think that he and Hope Davis have a little something going on (on the side, I guess - AFAIK, Hope Davis is married).
He is one of those actors who is always consistently good and isn't afraid to take risks by playing slimy and creepy characters but who just isn't that famous. I loved/hated him in Roger Dodger. I thought that would finally catapult him into the spotlight in a more mainstream way (maybe reaching the level of Patricia Clarkson) but it just didn't happen. Oh well. He gets to play interesting characters and direct interesting movies, so I guess he really doesn't care if he is more famous. I think hanging out at Ye Olde Site made me a little too sensitive to certain people's fame level.

He was completely hilarious as the pseudo-Nazi security chief in The Impostors, which was otherwise hit-or-miss.
Anyway, I like Campbell Scott a lot. He seems truly dedicated to his craft and totally un-famewhory. I had no idea he dated Patricia Clarkson.

He was soooo cute in "Singles". But sadly, much of his cuteness has faded as the years have gone by...

Swanflake, he was cute in Singles! But I think his looks have actually become more distinguished and sexy as time goes by. Or maybe it was just this great character he played in a film I saw last night. Saint Ralph (with Jennifer Tilly in a small role). It was a sweet story which takes place in the 1950s and CS played a cynical priest who used to be an Olympic runner and who now teaches in a Catholic Boys school. He's a cynic who seems to be more into Nietzsche than God. Anyway, he coaches a young boy for the Boston Marathon because the boy (an incredibly cool character who is too over-sexed for his own good) starts to believe he needs to accomplish a miracle if he's to get his mom out of a coma.
The film and Campbell's character are light years from Rodger Dodger. I felt slightly dirty for finding a priest so attractive but, damn, he looked pretty good! I was also impressed by his versatility but now that I read he's not a famewhore, I like him even more.
Isn't it funny how actors with the most illustrious Hollywood parents are usually the least fame-whoreish around? Campbell Scott with his dad, Kate Burton with hers, Angelica Huston, the Redgrave kids, and so many more. Take that Gwhiney!
I guess it depends on whether the person in question actually has talent....
I should add: I like Gwhiney's mother but she's hardly in the same category as Richard Burton or George C. Scott.

I think he's still with Patricia Clarkson. Plus he has a kid from a previous relationship.
After Dying Young and Singles, he decided not to become a "movie star" and to make low budget, independent films. I admire him for that. Good for him.

Mmmm, I've always had a crush on him. Sort of a classier version of John Cusack.
He's quite the hotness leaning over to murmur his devotion to a suicidal Jennifer Jason Leigh in Mrs Parker and the Vicious Circle and in that movie with Parker Posey, was it Daytrippers?
