See, I just don't believe it for a second that any celebrity isn't in it for the fame unless it's some truly driven artiste who cannot live without their art. And that is not Matt Damon. He makes good, sturdy, better than average films. He seems like a nice guy, glad he married a non-celebrity, keeps a low profile, but bottom line he pursued and has continued to pursue fame. It's really kind of a weird thing to spend your life doing.

The Minnie Driver story was debunked - she claimed he broke up with her by annoucing it on the Oprah show, but later admitted he'd already done it face to face.

They were already broken up, but it hadn't been announced yet, and apparently Minnie felt he should have consulted with her about how to announce it. I think Minnie was imagining that it was huge news, and that they would have to draft a carefully worded announcement like Brad and Jen, whereas I think Matt didn't regard it as a very serious relationship to begin with and didn't see it as something that required a press release.

I don't buy that he doesn't like his fame either. It's not like he's pursued all the time, so the comments about how awful it is, is pretty stupid. I like how he leads a low profile life, but I just don't consider him sexy at all. he's just kind of there.

I never cared for him until I heard him interviewed on Fresh Air with Terry Gross on NPR. He won me over. I think Ben Affleck is a total douchebag, though, so their friendship still makes me a little wary of Matt. I thought he did a great job in the Bourne movies.
