Anybody remember that TV series he was in where he was a Southern lawyer?- He had a couple of kids, I think- It's been years since it was on.

Thanks, Jennipoo- I read all the posts, but yours didn't register, I guess. I was probably reading too fast. Yep, that was a wonderful show!

I think they both had alcohol issues, but Lenny's were so bad he quit drinking. In the earlier days of L&O, Jack kept scotch in his desk. And I remember Jamie making some pointed comments to him about his drinking. I saw an old movie with a young Sam in it, I don't remember what movie it was, but Sam was a beautiful young man. Could it have been Hopscotch? It's the first time I remember seeing a young Sam; he played a CIA-type agent with a heart with Walter Matthau. One of my guilty pleasures from the early 80s. And count me in on the Sam love, which dates from that movie.

I am soooo glad he is NOT dead!
In the 70s, he was in a movie called Caprciorn One with James Brolin and O.J. Simpson. He was one of the astronauts. Good caper movie, with the U.S. Govt. and the space program as the bad guys.

Count me in on the geriatric lovin'! I also think it's cute when Jack McCoy wears a stocking cap in the winter, and not some comically oversized Homburg, although a grandpa-like fedora would be nice. And thanks for bringing up Hopscotch, HarpofLorien! That movie is practically canon in my home.
I never really thought that his voice was part of the Scotch-in-the-desk theme--I just thought that Sam Waterston had a mild Diane Rehm-like voice tremble due to something that wasn't really anything to comment on. But perhaps I am wrong?

I want to sleep with him, even though he's old enough to be my grandfather. And I want to sleep with him, even though he's old enough to be, um, my father! ;D Admissable only to you people: I'd be happy just to snuggle with him and kinda nibble on him. Kiss his droopy face. He's so teddy bear-ish.

Yeah he's old enough to be my grandpa and I'd sleep him in a heartbeat. My crush started with The Killing Fields...he was amazing in that movie, and i liked the beard. Now, I watch Law and Order mainly for him and for jesse L. Martin...mmmmmmmmm...

Yep, if I were ADA, I'd SO be one of his "assistants".
Heh.

When I worked in NYC, I always used to walk by their office on Park Ave. I always got a little tingle every time I walked by and saw Sam's face ::sigh::
