Whew, i'd rather him have no smell than smell like ass and stale cigarettes (trust me people, that is a smell!).

Sweet. The Happy Shiny Keanu Lurve Lives On! You guys are great, ya know? The only non-snark spot there was over there. *feels warm and snuggly*
And yeah. He's hot. And he can act. Usually. More than that though, he seems like a genuinely good soul. Hard to find those around.
Meanwhile.... can I BEG you kind people for a link to someone/anyone that might have saved the "Jesus" thread from over yonder land. I DIDN'T SAVE IT IN TIME.

How can we not love him? From People:
He tips well. Not ostentatiously well, but well.

*sigh* I discovered the Keanu Love Thread over on FT in the last minutes of the fall of Rome, and it was like a sweet, sweet oasis of rationality in a desert of bile-flavored dirt and bad vibes. Clunky metaphors aside (I'm still suffering from PDSD, y'all!), it's oddly comforting that the zen sweetness of Keanu (and the people who love him) survived the carnage and bitterness-fest.
Yeah, he's no Olivier (hell, Olivier was no Olivier! Rent his Hamlet some day and you'll see what I'm talkin' about), but he's so purty, and by all accounts, just a genuinely decent guy who apparently thinks the trappings of his own profession--and his subsequent fame--are a little pointless and silly. I like him because he's around my age but looks as young as I want to feel. I like him because he looked like my bad-news college boyfriend in River's Edge. I like him because he fills out a white t-shirt so beautifully in Speed (yeah, we're back to the purty). I like him because he allows me to be a secret fangirly in my head every so often, in amongst the trappings and responsibilities of my grown-up life (now I understand why my mom still gets that look when she talks about Burt Lancaster). I like that he can play dopey stoners and action heroes and mystical religious figures and romantic leading men. I like him because he's taken care of his terminally ill sister for years and years, not just by throwing money at her, but by spending time with her. What's not to love?
Yeah, okay, perhaps Much Ado About Nothing was a bad idea. But....purty! So, so very purty.

Well, he wasn't THAT bad in Much Ado. He didn't have much to say (Don John doesn't) but given that he was the villain of the piece he had to be memorable, and he was. How could he help but be memorable in leather pants?
Now he was memorable, but not in the way we would like him to be, in Dracula. Ouch. His mom's British, right? So I must assume he was brought up by a parent who spoke with a British accent. So you'd think it would have caught on in his psyche, somewhere. Apparently it did not.
Does his mom have a British accent? Anyone know?

I've always noticed him but I didn't really get intersted until "Speed". I've seen all of his movies in the theater since then.
I remember back in 99 when his girlfriend was pregnant. Jay Leno made a joke about him becaming a father and Keanu didn't care if it was a boy or a girl just as long as it was cool. I felt so sorry for him went the daughter was still born and then Jennifer died in the car accident.
Also Gloria Foster and Aaliyah died before filming the Matrix sequels. He's had his share of bad luck but he keeps to himself in interviews.

Anyone else intrigued by this new movie he's doing with Sandy Bullock, Il Mare? They had pretty nice natural chemistry with each other in Speed...I'm kind of looking forward to seeing them together again. Also, I'm dorky enough to enjoy high-concept quasi-sci fi premises like the one for this movie (two people in the same house, separated by a couple of years, fall in love through letters). I haven't heard much buzz on it beyond the initial "Keanu and Sandra together again" press release stuff when it was announced...I'm kind of surprised, since their last co-starring vehicle (heh) was wildly popular. I'd have thought it would get at least the same kind of response as the re-teaming of Tom Hanks and Meg Trout-pout in Sleepless in Seattle. Any theories about this?

Have they even started to film? I know there's news about Keanu eating out in Chicago (sounds like he's trying to gain back the weight he lost for Constantine) but isin't it a bit too early for PR? Or do they usually start up the machine this early?
And I don't know what to think of pairing Sandra and Keanu. Look at the thing between Charlize T and Keanu in DA and SN. I thought they were great in DA; they had little going in SN. The directing, editing, script etc proved more important than the actors and what they brought to the roles.
