I'm giggling at so much of the pearl clutching and the misplaced cries of "stop appropriating my culture" from some of my fellow Catholics over the entire MET gala. Get over it, people! Gosh we can be a sensitive bunch. 1. The items in the exhibit were loaned by the Vatican, with full knowledge of the Gala and its' theme and 2. Cardinal Dolan attended the gala! And he even joked about loaning Rihanna one of his mitres! But OMG, listening to these people you'd think it was the biggest apostasy since Martin Luther! It was absolutely not "making a mockery" Catholicism, but celebrating its influence in art and fashion. And now it has a moment in pop culture. I loved seeing the designs at the Gala and making the symbolic connections, and some of the pieces were truly stunning and magnificent.

I was a little disappointed that there were no insane wimples like the Flying Nun on show. A mitre is good but a sexy spangled nun is out of this world.

As a Catholic myself I am really not seeing the need for an outrage. It has the Vatican's stamp of approval plus Stephen Colbert went, and he was only annoyed because he didn't get to eat anything and was really hungry at the end of the night (I love that Cardinal Dolan bribed a waiter to go get him hot dogs from a street cart.)
I actually liked Rihanna's outfit, it was much more interesting than Amal Clooney's.

I'm going to be Debby Downer and agree that she didn't look great at the Met Gala. Her makeup was bad. The contouring was obvious and strange. I know she had the Pope hat, but she looked off to me.

Reports say that Rihanna turned down the NFLs invitiation to perform at halftime during the Super Bowl. Why? Because she doesn't like how they've treated Colin Kapernick and she supoorts his cause.
I love Rihanna. I feel like a big sister who's watched her little sister grow up. I was so worried for her during the Chris Brown days.

She's so great.
I'm twice her age, yet I still hope to be half as cool as her when I grow up!

She turned down what would have been the most visible performance of her musical career as a principled show of support. I agree that she seems to have matured and grown into herself, which doesn’t often happen with celebrities who got famous when very young.

Disappointed in her Met Gala wear this year. Her date A$AP Rocky grabbed a quilt off the bed before heading out.

I hated it as well, but I read that it's meant to be a take on American street wear, so in that context it makes more sense even if I don't love it. Her face, however, remains flawless.
