Neither can I. Calling her names and threatening her is emotional abuse and it is wrong. Agreed. No one should ever be spoken to in that manner by someone whose job it is to love and protect them. I hope the karma bus runs over his giant fat slimy self soon. ITA. I think calling his child demeaning names is when he really crossed the line. Yelling in anger at your kid is one thing....but this is verbal abuse. Plain and simple. Saying "Hey, listen you don't respect me and I've had enough of this!" would be different than saying "You are a rude selfish little pig!" I mean c'mon.

My parents never spoke to me that way, EVER. I've never even heard them speak to each other that way, although I'm sure in private they tore each other to shreds.
So, I guess if NOT verbally abusing your kids makes you a "perfect parent", then the perfect parents live in my hometown.

If he engages in this kind of behavior on a regular basis (which we know he does, as he has been SEEN hitting Kim at least once before), then yes, he is abusive, and honestly, I think the best thing for Ireland would be to go live with some sane relatives. Kim Basinger has done some things that are not ok, either.
But, I just wanted to defend BuckDutters post a bit. I am a domestic violence victim advocate, I deal with victims of child abuse every day, I AM a victim of child abuse, and I am guilty of blowing up inappropriately at my kids on rare occasion. Thanks to all of my education and training, I am a pretty decent, even-tempered parent for the most part. But I have LOST. MY. SHIT. at my kids more than once, and I would be lying if I said I could guarantee it won't happen again. The language Alec used in that message was absolutely uncalled for, but he really sounded more frustrated than perpy. I'd say he is in more need of anger management groups than batterer's counselling. JMHO. Being a parent is the hardest job in the world, and both Alec and Kim are failing miserably.
So, yeah, Ireland needs to join Blanket and Danilynn and Frances Bean, etc. on the Greecie Island for Celeb Kids (or whatever it's called ;D)

Neither did mine.
What I found really interesting about Alec Baldwin's message was how PERSONALLY offended he sounded. It's like he really thinks his daughter set out to shit on him and make him feel like garbage. What a big fucking baby. "You made me feel like shit". WTF? Seriously WHAT THE FUCK? What is wrong with this man? Where is this ridiculous paranoid rage coming from? Geez.

Neither did mine as well. They might have yelled, they might have become incredibly frustrated with me, they might have threatened me with punishment, but they never even told me I was "bad" when I misbehaved because they thought it was damaging, let alone called me a "thoughtless little pig." That's just disgusting. I'm sorry, I'm a child psychologist and I have zero tolerance for this kind of parental behavior. Alec Baldwin deserves to lose all visitation rights he has.Wow. Did you come to that conclusion from listening to that one phone message? Just wow.

That's how I feel about releasing the tape. Sure, Kim may have done it to hurt Alec, but she's hurting Ireland in the process. When you're a kid her age and your parents are acting like a couple of shitheads, you are completely hurt and embarassed by them. Now everyone knows about it. The kids at school are probably going to give her shit about it. That is absolutely not what she needs right now and it was really shitty of Kim to do that in order to get back at Alec or hurt his career without considering the effect it would have on Ireland. She should have just turned it over to her lawyer and that's it.
That poor kid. Both Kim and Alec are crazy - Alec is crazy and angry, Kim is crazy and manipulative.

Yep. Just like the family law judge who temporarily barred him from having any contact with his child after she heard it. He stands to lose all contact with her permanently at the hearing next week.
