So, my fantasy husband has just been cast in "The Kingdom" alongside Jennifer Garner, Chris Cooper, and Jamie Foxx. Can't wait and it sounds like a major departure from his usual roles. From one movie to the next...happy to see him getting some post-"AD" love.

Well, she was three weeks overdue but she's finally here! Francesca Nora Bateman was born on Saturday. Congrats to Jason and wife Amanda Anka!

Wow - I had no idea his wife was pregnant. And three weeks overdue?! She must have been ready to cut that kid out herself with a melon baller.

And yay for another celebrity who gives their child a normal name!

They were at an NBC event on Thursday and said if she didn't go into labor by the end of the weekend they were going to induce. I wonder if they did, seeing as she was born on Saturday.

Justine Bateman has a new book out, FACE, and says that celebrity plastic surgery is a Ponzi scheme. Which makes sense to me. You get the surgery to get the roles to pay for the surgery to get the roles.

She looks great, I think. Not youthful and done up, but artistic and earthy. Though I am surprised that she's only fifty-five. Either modern medicine and products have really skewed our perceptions, or she maybe has taken the graceful aging thing a little too far into neglect. (Is she a smoker?)

It’s interesting because I also thought that she looked older than 55 but then wondered if she was a smoker or a sun worshipper. Paulina Porizkova, who I follow on IG, also looks older than she is, too, and I thought maybe it’s because we are so used to seeing people in that industry normally made up so when we see them with their natural face, it’s a little more jarring. I don’t know but I’m definitely going to read her book. While I don’t have any plans to do anything about the aging process other than continue to dye my hair and wax hair I don’t need off of my face, I do have to work mentally to accept the older face that stares back at me in the mirror and not get to a point where I care too much.

I would imagine she is a smoker. That takes a toll on your skin.

That said, I just googled her and I 100% agree with the points she's making. Such as:

Vanity Fair: The word brave is used frequently in your new book’s blurbs. Do you think of yourself as being brave?


Justine Bateman: [Laughs] No. I think that whole phrase is such bullshit. To me it says, “I’m so embarrassed for you. This is so brave.” I fucking hate that term. No, I don’t think it’s brave at all. I’m just saying that we as a society somehow leapfrogged from “Wow, that plastic surgery is so extreme” to “When are you getting your plastic surgery? Is it going to be at 20, or is it going to be at 40?” It’s almost your duty now as a female to start cutting up your face. How did this thinking become so set in our society? How about just saying no?
