On the topic of Fonda, the only reports of spitting I've heard is when a veteran went up to her at a book signing last year and spit tobacco juice on her face.

I bet old Jane stage manages her son's wedding. I can see it now.

Didn't you see the rest of my post? I'm sorry if I offended you, but I really did try to safeguard against this type of misunderstanding. ETA: By the way, I don't presume to question your friend's account. If he says it happened to him, then that's good enough for me. I question things like "All the anti-war protesters routinely spit on troops during Vietnam." which is a claim I frequently hear.

See? Jane Fonda still causes trouble!
While I loved 9 to 5, it was because of Dolly Parton, Lily Tomlin and Dabney Coleman. I think a number of actresses could have stepped into Fonda's role; that character was the least compelling.

According to Samantha Harris, who covers the red carpet for E! Jane is a nightmare, unfriendly and not having time for anyone. Not surprised.

As well as talented. He was fantastic in Soldier's Girl. So thanks Jane for Troy!

Any "fantastic-ness" of her son can probably be attributed to his father. I'm mean.
I just don't like Jane Fonda. While she has done some great work in movies, I find her - as a person - to be extremely fake. And that's saying something for a Hollywood type, where fake is the order of the day.
Nothing she does seems to be because she believes in it - it's all to suit her man at the time. Sex kitten for hubby one, activist for number two, trophy wife for three, etc.
As for Monster-in-Law, yeah, no acting there. I suspect few people adore Fonda. Coming from Hollywood royalty blessed her with a smug entitlement complex.

Witiko -- Sorry, I realize my post was unneccessarilly harsh. But in my defense, my friend, when talking about that, still has a look of astonishment and sadness. He still can't believe coming home from hell and actually getting spit on. He says he still actually dreams about that moment. And like a lot of other vets, he connects the whole "fuck you, you baby killers" to Miss Jane Fonda. She's got major karma down the line.
But anyhow, sorry. Didn't mean to lash out.

I don't like her either. Seems extremely cold and two faced. Wouldn't want her as a mother in law.
