I'm guessing she's had private security since she left.

She may have private security, but she's been so public about her break from the Clams that if anything ever happened to her, it would be obvious the Church of Scientology was behind it. That's been a form of protection for her as well. I'm surprised they haven't found ways to file lawsuits against her and keep her tied up in court with expensive legal fees, because that's also one of their preferred tactics.

Yes! I’m so happy for this bump, rot in prison!

I'm hoping he at least gets the 30 years. Glad his victims have gotten some closure.

I feel like I should feel sorry for Bijou Phillips since she was born into a dumpster fire and has yet to claw her way out, but she and Masterson are both such thoroughly unpleasant and unkind people that I just cannot. Still, I hope she takes advantage of this potential 30-year separation to sever ties with Scientology and begin anew. It would be a good first step towards better mental health anyway.

I don't like it when talk/hate is directed at Bijou. Not you, Romanova, but elsewhere on the internet, it takes 5 seconds before people start hating on her as if she was a co-defendant. She's not the rapist here, so when people start listing every bad thing she's allegedly done as justification for hating her, it annoys me.
It reminds me of Harvey Weinstein being a rapist, but let's put up a big poster to shame Meryl Streep because she's the real criminal in that mess.
Bijou had to deal with the man who raised her being publicly exposed as a long-time perpetrator of rape and incest. As she said later, it completely destroyed her idea of her father, their relationship, and her childhood. I didn't blame her for not publicly responding to the news in the most ideal, supportive and PC way. And I don't think Mackenzie did either. IIRC, she understood why her little sister had a hard time with it.
Now she's got a husband who she presumably loves, who cared for her during major illness, and she doesn't want to believe he's a rapist. She wasn't on the jury, so who cares what she thinks? This conviction is going to destroy a big part of her life too.
I just hate it when people find the nearest woman to rage at for things men do.

Very fair, Ginger, very fair. Most of what I know of Bijou comes from her behavior on the sets of Bully and Almost Famous, and of course her blood-family drama - all of which is ancient history - so maybe she's a much better person and in a much better place (not this week, of course), than I gave her credit for. I'll be honest, I have a very hard time extending grace to Scientologists, especially converts, who should know better. And Danny Masterson oozed assholery from the first time I laid eyes on him. She can do better and, with time, I hope she does.
