Listened to the clip, I think she's good but not good enough to go real far. Seems like a sweet girl too.

I believe when Jane was around 15 or so I remember her mom suing for more child support because she needed vocal lessons, pilates, etc etc to make it in Hollywood. She was good last night, but it seems like she's had a lot of training already so I'm not sure she has a ton of raw talent. Article about that from 2003. |

Well, yeah - her singing is pretty average, especially if she's trained. I feel sorry for kids of celebs who feel that they need to find their own way - in show business. Does she do anything else? Has she had jobs, education? Finding your own voice (no pun) doesn't have to mean being famous as well.

So she is 24 year old woman, divorced with a kid, and working as an actress. I don't get it. Why doesn't she go to school, learn a trade, skill, etc. She is trying to make her by trying out for a American Idol?? In other words, she wants to be famous.

She's described as an on-again, off-again waitress. I'm guessing she skipped college.
Apparently she got special treatment and waltzed right in to see the judges. She called the producers, and that was that. No waiting in lines, none of that pesky stuff for the star daughter.

I can't find the link right now, but the Daily Mail also ran an article claiming that Jane received preferential treatment in the AI tryouts; she didn't have to camp out in line for hours and hours to get her shot. An appointment was allegedly made for her.
Oh, well. I guess AI doesn't have rules to discourage celebrity spawn from trying out?

I remember Jane appearing at various red carpet events throughout her life (from at least age 7) with her dad. (She was there when he got his name at Grauman's, too.) He always mentioned her in interviews and I think he was around during her childhood. |
