He's always talked about her in glowing terms and is obviously very proud of her. I don't know anything about his ex-wife, but I remember it being a bitter divorce. I think they must've made peace with each other though, she (the ex) had a bit part in Man on the Moon.

I listened to her tryout. She has an OK voice, nothing special. There is no way she could win this show, and if her dad wasn't Jim Carey, she might have made it to Hollywood (depending on what kind of mood the judges were in that day), but she would be cut in Hollywood. Now, I'm not sure they will cut her in Hollywood. I think she's got about a 75% chance of moving on JUST by her name alone. And if she does move on, I think she'll be offered a record deal by someone, regardless of how she actually does on the show.

she looks strangely like Miley Cyrus. I thought so, too, when I was trying to figure out who her father was. I didn't even watch her audition past the first couple of notes, but I knew they'd put her through. Interesting to see how long they'll keep her. Maybe she'll forget the lyrics and make it easy on them.  |

As a movie actor, I'm surprised he didn't go to the Oscars itself. Was he invited? The feet wouldn't have played well on the red carpet, though.
ETA: "Would" and "wouldn't" are complete opposites.

He's got a new movie coming out soon. He's probably just trying to make sure people remember he exists and that he's WACKY before the publicity machine starts in ernest. |
