I said it in the Potter thread, but she needs to write that last book. I can only read them so many times, and I need to know what happens. I'm afraid she'll just put it off forever until there will never be a last book. Then where will I be?

She's already started writing it, from what I've heard.

I've heard that she is working on it as well. Since I'm sure she already knows how she wants it to end, it is just a matter of putting all the pieces together and tying up loose ends (easier said than done, of course).
I hope it does come out soon, but I don't mind if she takes her time a bit. The last book felt almost like filler to me - like it was really just Part One of that final volume and really just set things up to be addressed in the final book.
While I agree with the person earlier who said that she uses a lot of stereotypes in her books, I do like some of the things she's done with her characters. I really like how in OotP Harry turned into a bit of a surly teen. Much more realistic than the kid who keeps getting the abuse heaped on him and just lets it roll of his back. He'd been doing it his whole life and it was time for him to get sick of it.
And the part of me that just doesn't get the Harry/Hermione 'shippers who felt so "betrayed" when in this last book it looked like Ron/Hermione was finally going to happen loves JKR for basically being all, "Dudes, what books have you been reading?" when asked about it. She'd been setting up Ron/Hermione since day one and I liked that she wasn't going to back down from the rabid fans at all (who of course had to set up websites to discuss "the betrayal" and JKR utter disregard for her fans).

I agree with her rant and I hope she follows through with not letting her daughters grow up to be spoiled twits like Paris Hilton. Gotta say I cringed at the part where she said "Let my girls be be Hermiones" though. That's kinda snotty. J.K., your own character is not the only female character in literary history who doesn't act like a Hilton sister. Sheesh.

And she knows how the Potter books end. Definitely the biggest perk of being Jo! ;D

For many reasons, I thought it was rich of her to tell the H/Hr shippers they needed to read the books again, but particularly because she admitted in the same interview that she rarely did the same herself. Which was sort of obvious after reading HBP, especially the part where she very glaringly mixed up the book and movie versions of PoA. If Snape is revealed to be a Sadistic Puppy Killer in book seven, afterward JKR will be all, "I've always said he was a nasty piece of work from the start and that no one would ever want to love him. He was horrid to Harry from the first time they met. He had greasy hair and was always snarling at everyone. Didn't you read the beginning of the last book? How many more anvils could I have dropped to show that he was always supposed to be seen as a terribly evil man?" The Snape lovers will be all, "But-but-but--it's not FAIR! He and Dumbledore had a deal! He was just playing the Death Eaters and it was all a red herring for him really being a triple agent!" And the H/Hr fans will sit back laughing wickedly while someone else takes their turn to gnash their teeth and howl and scream about how badly the story turned out because it didn't go their way. Even if it's not that particular scenario, you know there's only more disillusionment with the books and JKR to come after the whole thing is over. "Let my girls be Hermiones"...oh, whatever, Jo, I don't see the depiction of female characters in HBP earning any Book of the Year awards from N.O.W. Not to mention that Hermione is making good girls go bad.

I love J.K., I love the Harry Potter series, but not for it's female characters. They annoy the hell out of me. Well, maybe except for McGonagall. She's 'aight. The others seem like they are always wandering around crying and acting like chemically unbalanced control freaks.

Just to let you guys know: I was told I could start this thread so long as it doesn't turn into a discussion on Harry Potter.
Topic: still love her.
