Just to let you guys know: I was told I could start this thread so long as it doesn't turn into a discussion on Harry Potter. Topic: still love her. What? Err...okay she's an author and about the only thing she's known for is Harry Potter. So how are we supposed to talk about her without talking about the Pottman!?

Probably because there's already an HP thread in the literary section. I just don't think the mods want us getting into an in depth discussion about the plot or characters here.

I love J.K., I love the Harry Potter series, but not for it's female characters. They annoy the hell out of me. Well, maybe except for McGonagall. She's 'aight. The others seem like they are always wandering around crying and acting like chemically unbalanced control freaks. Yeah, but considering the age (Hermione is thirteen/fourteen when she gets all weepy-I was running like a fountain that that age), that's not anything unusual. They're young teenagers-they're going to be all cranky and weepy and big drama queens. And Ginny and Luna aren't always crying.

Oh, it's not just the teen girls-- Molly and Tonks cry a lot and act all over the place, and annoy the hell out of me as well. But again, I enjoy the series and think Ms. Rowling does a pretty good job handling herself and being witty when neccessary. Also-- that HP reference-type book she wrote for charity (bought it, but never read it-- I sent it on to cousins for Christmas)? Awesome.

One thing I've always wondered about JK is if her daughter knows about the end of the books. If so that has got to be a difficult secret for her to keep. I just have a picture in my mind of her classmates begging her to talk about the HP books, her teacher telling them to leave her alone and then the teacher begging for answers.

According to JKR, she hasn't told a soul how it all ends, not even her family members. Myself, I'm really looking forward to and dreading the release of book 7 at the same time. On the one hand I'll be happy to finally know the whole story, but on the other.....no more Harry Potter.

I saw a photo of her older daughter at about age 10-11, she reminded me of Morticia Adams, but in a good way. As for JKR, I wish she would let it go with the blond hair and hope she lays off the cosmetic procedures (I think she may have had an eye job or Botox--her face doesn't quite move like it should). She always talks out of one side of her mouth and doesn't move her eyebrows much, but I think she's always been that way (or least since GOF was released). It may be a kind of nervous tic. She does seem to wear a lot of make-up in public appearances, and looked much better as a red head/dark blonde with a slight bob, but if I was going to a movie premiere in front of thousands I'd probably cake on the slap and highlights too. BTW, isn't her daughter only about 10 now? I thought she had a court injunction against photos of her kids.

Her older daughter will be 13 this summer, the other girl is one and her son is three. The photo I saw of her was on a celebrity blog . It wasn't someone else putting school play photos on the internet, but taken on a street with shops, and JKR was also in it. UK publications will blur the minor child's face in photos like that, but they just run untouched everywhere else in the world, so it kind of defeats the purpose. She doesn't drag her child in front of the cameras at the premieres and then whine about the media being intrusive with the next breath, unlike some other celebs.
I thought it was funny that she anticipated fan disappointment about her last pregnancy when she announced it, and assured eveyrone that the baby wouldn't delay the book.

Maybe those characters will be major villains, not heroes (instead of Azkaban it'll be fatal spellslinging battle for X1 and X2).
