Given that it's Ewan, wouldn't a rooster have been more appropriate than a pigeon?
I think it's just The Island itself or the ads -- lots of shouting over explosions, so the voice is more strained than it would be conversationally. Plus, it's Michael Bay, so I'm thinking accents were the last concern for those on set.
Hey, I'm named Ryan and yet am receiving no hugs or kisses. Unfair. :-(

Yeah, but he sounded the same way as Curt Wild in Velvet Goldmine. It's probably just me.
Huh? ETA: Ohhhh, I'm not smart. Nevermind. And I'm changing my name to Ryan.
I agree though, on a Michael Bay set I'm sure no one was too focused on dialect.

Well, it's gotta be better than parts: the clonus horror. ANYTHING's gotta be better than that steaming pile.

I can't get past Ewan's American accent. It's not that it's not accurate, it's that it just sounds off coming from him. I think he's a great actor, but his American accent just sounds so nasal to me. Am I a bad person? No, I have always thought that his accent in Velvet Goldmine was less Detroit and more "Does anyone have a tissue?" But I love him anyway. Plus, he actually uses his real accent in the film as well since he is playing two characters. Given that it's Ewan, wouldn't a rooster have been more appropriate than a pigeon? Ha!

Hey, those of you who saw Long Way Round, did Ewan's daughter (I assume Clara, since Esther's probably too little) make him that tee shirt that said I Heart You Daddy?

Because BRAVO hates me, I never saw the first few episodes of the series. I don't remember reading about the shirt in the book--although EM did mention being sad about losing a little soap dish she had given him for the trip. But I would guess she made it. Too sweet.

I just have to say...I watched Big Fish again this weekend. Man is a damn fine after. Damn fine. That is all. So very, very true. EwanMcGregor.net has a ton of new updates, including pictures of EM and Charley Boorman at the Goodwood Festival of Speed, pictures from the Star Wars spread in Vanity Fair, video clips from The Making of Velvet Goldmine, stills and screen caps from The Island, and an article about The Island from Sci-Fi. Managed to catch the last part of Velvet Goldmine last night (actually very early this morning), and I just love him in that movie. ETA: I've got the book on request at the library. Yes! If you enjoyed the series, or if you just like EM and CB, it is a wonderful book. Very light reading, with a few moments of insight, much humor. Perfect for summer--or winter or fall... It makes you want to hug your family--and rent every movie he ever made.

Or, rather, cock? I've got good news & bad news. The good news: Ewan's in the new issue of W magazine. The bad news: CrazyKatieHolmes is on the cover.
