As for the missus' talents, guess that's in the ear of the beholder. Hated 'Sports Night', she bugged on 'Frasier', and I missed 'TransAmerica', and just don't like the woman. The big whiff of smugness and the overbearing shrillness? Makes my slappin' hand itch. Of course, the horse-facedness ain't her fault, but.... I think Macy is a very good actor. Everything I've seen him, he has been exceptional. But do I, like his wife, think he's God's gift to the world? No. I agree with buckdutter that she's obnoxious about him. Every single interview I've seen with her, she drones on about the wonderfulness of William H. Macy. I'm all for loving one's spouse, but she pushes it to the point of puking. Example: I read that Marcia Cross put a jar out on the set, requesting suggestions for married life. Felicity's suggestion was Marry William H. Macy. Oh, just gag me. I have to agree. Anytime someone holds his/her partner up to be the best thing evah! it makes me sick. Yes, we get it. You never fight because you're married to the perfect man. Blah, blah, blah. My first introduction to William H. Macy was the TV show ER. I had no idea who he was, but I remember liking the character and the actor. He seemed very understated. Unless I'm thinking of someone else. If I am, then he was really understated because I think he's WHMacy.

Finally. Other people that don't think this couple is the best thing going in Hollywood. He's a brilliant actor and she's also very good, but they really and truly annoy the hell out of me for most of the reasons already stated.
His comments about Lindsay Lohan were warranted, but "she needs her ass kicked?" Who died and made you God?

My faith in their couplehood took a little hit when I read a few times that it took him a looooong time to agree to marry her. Actually, I think she had to convince him to even go out with her in the first place. It seems that things were a little more one-sided than I thought--i.e., she's more into it than he is. It will probably be fine, but it does raise a tiny red flag for me.
And I just read Flicka say Lindsay Lohan was great on the set of Georgia Rule, so maybe he wasn't speaking for the Filliam H. Muffman unit.

Was it because she soumded like she was trying to get milage out of the fact she's married to him? Did she famewhore? Actually it was worse than famewhoring. It was like she was a zombie in the cult of William H. Macy. Seriously, every. single. interview. she gushes euphorically over him. I was initially interested in her because I think she's the most talented of the Housewives. But this over the top worshiping turns me off to her. I'm sure he's a fabulous husband, but something seems off about it to me. She's almost a more articulate Katie Holmes. "He's is amaaaaazing."

I guess I'm kind of torn on Felicity, because sometimes it has irritated me and sometimes it hasn't: - In the fall of 2004 before Housewives premiered, the cast was on Oprah. Anyway Oprah had the cast come on one at a time and then had a little segment where she interviewed them with the others who had come before. The order was: Teri, Nicollette, Eva, Marcia and then Felicity.
So Oprah says to Felicity, "I lovevvveeeee your husband"! And Felicity's response was, "As do I". I can't really explain it but the way Felicity said it, it was like "Yeah I know".
- But then I recall when Felicity won the Emmy last September she made a pretty cool speech. She thanked David Mamet for casting her in his plays, Aaron Sorkin for casting her in Sports Night and Marc Cherry. At the end of the speech she said something along the lines of:
"...and finally the incomparable Bill Macy for taking a chunky 22 year old with glasses and a bad perm and leading me up into a cow pasture and kissing me and making me his wife..."
The audience was all "awwww" and some were saying that it was one of the best speeches ever. So I found that sweet.
- The next award that Felicity won for her role on Housewives was a SAG earlier this year. Anyway here was the beginning of her speech:
"I love actors, I married one - okay I married a fantastic one. [laughter/applause] I know..."
(I actually just looked this up on the official SAG website so that was it verbatim)
- Now most recently with the marriage advice for Marcia, that to me seemed a bit much.
Maybe she just loves her husband and wants everyone to know. However it's starting to remind me of Teri Hatcher going on and on about Emerson in every single interview and what a "hands on mom" she is.

I don't find it sweet, but I guess that's not really his fault. Macy is no looker. I don't see why Huffman is selling herself so short. Clearly she was very lucky to find a man when she was chunky and with bad hair. Ugh.

And apparently he had quite the well-deserved rep as a horndog when they first met, to the extent that Felicity didn't think they'd ever get married.
If they ever divorce, and have a really acrimonious, Burt-Reynolds-Loni-Anderson type breakup, then I'll look back and laugh and roll my eyes at all their "I'm so happy married to him/her" comments. But IMHO it's refreshing to see a Hollywood couple get together, marry, and stay together, and obviously be nuts about each other. I'd rather hear them gush about each other then hear Kate Hudson's smug comments about how her marriage works right before she and Chris announced their separation.

She sounded so fawningly grateful to him for marrying her. That just doesn't sit well with me, no matter who the guy is. That said, he is a great actor. I hope he appreciates the daily worship he gets from his adoring wife.

I love Macy because at some awards show, they asked him about his wife and he said she was "the cat's pajamas." That's just adorable.

I like them a lot together, just as I like Bradley Whitford and Jane Kaczmarek together -- they just seem like kindhearted, hardworking, down-to-earth people who actually care about acting rather than being stars.
