Color me as shocked as all of you. I just wasn't expecting to hear this. I've been a fan since I was 12.

I'm shocked and stunned! "Suffragette City" is one of my all time favorite songs. Especially after he just released an album two days ago, this, I can't believe it.

I'm in total disbelief. He just had a new off-Broadway musical "Lazarus" out in December, so I'm going "conspiracy theory" until we hear confirmation from Iman.

I am blinking awake. I can't believe it. Watching his video for Lazarus. An artist to the end.

What terrible news. I do recall reading an article that he was having some health issues, but for some reason I had the impression it was heart disease.
Where do you even start to talk about all of his work? He's one of the rare artists that stayed interesting throughout his entire career. The more electronica-flavored albums he released in the mid/late 90s had some really great songs on them.

I'd heard that he was sick years ago, and he was very quiet then, but in latter years he had been more active. I read in an article today that there was an alleged heart attack in the 00s. I feel gutted that he's gone, he was a true original and amazing person. He was always interesting and one of those people I hoped I'd meet somehow, someday. Iman, all my sympathy. (And I just found out his son Zowie Bowie now goes by Duncan Jones.)

I have a twisted idea of success. What I have long thought of as my "best" gig ever, was about 20 years ago.
My guitar player and I used to do a comedy/folk music act at faux coffee houses. We were hired to play at a grand opening in Ashtabula, OH, by someone who enjoyed our joke laden topical folk songs when we played the Ashtabula satellite campus of Kent State.
We dutifully put together a set that we thought was enough material for the three hours we were supposed to play, but nerves and adrenaline caused us to play too fast, and we were about a 1/2 hour short. We quickly invented the "unplugged" set and started playing rock songs that we usually did in our cover band on our battered, cheap acoustic guitars. Even then we were running out of stuff we knew, and finally, in desperation, tossed out a spirited "Ziggy Stardust/Suffragette City" rendition. As the final chord rang out, we were absolutely out of material. We started debating what song we could repeat with the fewest people noticing, when a member of our audience deliver the highest accolade we ever had and probably ever will receive:
"Please, stop. We hate you!"
Rest in Peace, Mr Jones.

I used to record his songs on my boom box in my room when I was 12 or 13. I've been a fan ever since. I'm in total shock and really saddened by this. He wasn't just a pop star, he was an artist.
Thank you for sharing your incredible talent with us, David Bowie.
