I am completely shocked by this one and for some reason it makes me very sad. My heart goes out to his poor wife and two small children.

I hope they never show it, if he was filming. You know somebody is going to want to see that.

Oh my god, how horrible!
I had no idea a stingray could kill you. How ironic his love of animals should kill him, or maybe it's not ironic but poetic and beautiful and the way he would have wanted it?

Holy crap! I saw his thread at the top, but I didn't think he was dead!
This really bums me out: as a teen I used to watch his show all the time. Thought him and Terri were great and loved their work for conservation and how passionate they were. Loved how Terri was loving yet had the "eye rolling, my husband is crazy" thing going on. Bindi was adorable.
ETA: It said the stringray hit him in the chest, so maybe that's why it was fatal? The poison got his heart?

Apparently he's very, very, very unlucky. Generally it will only cause a puncture type injury, but he was injured to the chest area which may have lead to a cardiac arrest.

Omigosh, this is so shocking! I hope his death was fast and that he didn't suffer. I also feel such sympathy for his wife & kids. My own father died on September 3rd (1993), so I've been thinking about him a lot today.... maybe that's why I feel so sad about Steve's death (it's not like I was a big fan of his or anything).
RIP Croc Hunter

Holy fucking shit.
I shouldn't be so stunned, but I am.
Wow. Poor guy. My heart really goes out to his family.
