I always feel like if Gwen took all of her makeup off no one would recognize her. She seems so boring to me.

ETA: May be before some of your time, but as crazy as she was/is about about Gavin/Blake, she was completely coo coo cahoo over Tony Kanal. All those songs like Don't Speak and Ex-Girlfriend were written in response to him ending their relationship. To say that she was completely destroyed by that breakup would be an understatement. Don't Speak, man...it was like "Here's my heart--it got stomped on." She spoke a lot about how she really thought Tony was "the one" and they were going to get married and have the babies. Then he dumped her. Then years later she wrote Cool where they were all, well, cool with each other. Somehow I don't think there's a song coming about how she and Gavin are copacetic.

Cool is my absolute favorite of her Tony Kanal-inspired songs. It has such a dreamy, nostalgic quality. But I also really like "I used to love you" which I think is Gavin-inspired. "I don't know why I cry, but I think it's cause I remembered for the first time since I hated you, that I used to love you." It's not a sentiment that I feel gets talked about that much, even that ex that you now loathe was once a favorite person. It's so hard to remember that when you look bad at the relationships that ended badly. In other words, I like her songwriting more than I ever give much thought to and she possibly doesn't get enough credit for it, compared to someone like an Adele.

Us Weekly is the one who said a month ago they were having problems and now they’re claiming exclusives about their engagement. They have no credibility anymore.

She can be as Catholic as she likes. I have no issue with that. I'm not sure you need to say you wouldn't have an abortion at a pro-choice festival. Celebrating choice is great, but there's so much stigma around abortion already, why contribute to that? Just say you're pro-choice and leave it at that.
However, seeming fuckable seems to be her primary motivation in life, and we're the same age, so that's always turned me off a bit. I get that fame does a number on women's bodies and heads. I just wish she were a little forthcoming about that pressure. Remember when she told Vogue magazine if she didn't eat, she could lose five more pounds (when appearing on the cover)? She's probably been at ground zero for so much sexism in rock and roll and pop culture in the last 30 years, but she's never discussed it.
I'm biased. I admit it. Between that and the Harajuku Japanese girl stunts, she bugs. But she does have amazing taste in fashion.
And her taste does run to a-holes in men.

There's nothing "pro-choice" at all about only deeming one "choice" ok. I don't know purpose it serves to bully pro-choice allies who don't personally think abortion is a fabulous thing into silence or driving them away altogether. I wish there were more religious people like Gwen who could make the distinction that although they wouldn't choose abortion, they and everyone else should still have the legal right to make the decision. I could do with a lot less of Lena Dunham, in the name of destigmatization, making the idiotic statement that she regrets that she hasn't had an abortion yet.

Personally, I think hearing someone say "hey, I'm Catholic, I wouldn't have an abortion, but I'm so glad we live in a world where YOU can choose differently" is a strong pro-choice statement that holds a lot of weight.
Topic? Randomly still low-key obsessed with her wedding dress from when she married Gavin.

I hate the idea of abortion and would never get one myself, but I'm glad it's legal so that anyone who does want one can get one safely. I'm fairly certain that makes me pro-choice. Topic: I am so sick of the bleached hair and bright red lipstick thing. She was so pretty in the Underneath It All video in one scene where she had more natural make-up on, and she was so pretty. I wish she'd do that more often.

She was probably 27 or 28 when she said that (she was 26-ish when just a girl came out) so I don’t know what wrong with an adult saying hey, if I got pregnant now, I’d have the kid. She’s always talked about wanting to be a mom. I actually think she never cared at all about being “fuckable”. She was always dressing for herself and what she thought was cool - tomboy clothes and ‘50s glamour makeup. But whatever.

But I have a lot of younger cousins who kind of see me as their older sister and I want them to know they have choices. I've had older relatives basically say I'm not Catholic and stop saying I am since I would have an abortion. The conversation basically devolves into an awful mess and them not being able to respond back since all their kids are divorced and have multiple live-in partners and that they're awful catholics too. And as tiring as it is, I need my younger generation to know they have choices which is what pro-choice is about. Off to google what Gwen's dress looks like from her wedding.
