File under unneccesary and weird info: I was just showing the trailer for Because of Winn Dixie to my daughter for the zillionth time (I'm reading the book to her in chapters each night before bed) and I noticed that AnnaSophia Robb and Natalie Portman have the same eyes and very similar facial features.

No kidding. I love how people assume that a science/math degree is somehow harder than putting complex words, thoughts, and concepts into words and making them either more understandable or more exact. Without English and interpersonal communication, I don't see how anybody could understand these concepts at all. Comprehension is a lost art in today's world, simply typing in x + y = z doesn't always work. If you're so smart, go fix the Stock Market, nerdling! And take Natalie "Garden State Made Me a Genius" Portman with you!

Natalie Portman gets pulled over and blames her shaved head.Forget about the fact that her registration was expired. I'm sure she's going to come out saying that she now knows how it feels to be driving while black. And, hello? Has she heard about 9/11? I understand why they wanted her to go by bridge and not tunnel.

Getting any college degree is not easy and also no one degree is better than another so stop that conversation.Unless of course, you have a Econ degree like me and that just trumps everything. ;D You crack me up!

Eeep, I hadn't checked this thread for a while so apologies to anyone I offended. I think I should probably go and join Natalie in the pretentious idiots' corner.
Secondly, from the IMDB story, what the hell kind of quote is this?
She's just rambling and there aren't even any oh-so-relevant philosophical references. I'm disappointed.

In '96, I watched 'The Professional' and loved the performance by the little girl actress. Later, I found out she was Natalie. I was surprised because I thought she looked different.
Anyway, I watched Natalie in her crappy films like 'Anywhere But Here', and I could not understand her hype. She was bland and lacked charisma. After watching some of the first STAR WARS prequel, I had not seen her in any other films for almost five years until I watched "Garden State" tonight.
I am really shocked about how fluid and carefree her performance was in this film. She was very charismatic and just wonderful. Finally, she has lived up to some of the hype surrounding her.

She doesn't bother me much; even when she's bland, I think she's better than most actresses her age who are only famous because of their looks. At least Natalie has acting skills to back up her hype, when she actually uses those skills.
I read somewhere recentlya quote where she said something along the lines of "by now, you can probably tell that when I'm bored with a role, I don't put much effort into it". The thing is, you really CAN tell...if she acknowledges that she has a tendency to do that, why does she take those roles? Is she really that desperate for money? And if she's desperate for money, wouldn't she want to put the effort in so she'd continue to be offered these 'boring' roles?
Because I really do think she can be good if she actually exerts herself enough to put some effort into it. I liked her in GS and in Closer, roles which apparently kept her amused enough for her to 'try'.

What part of "expired registration" did the little genius not understand? Maybe she can commiserate with Oprah who doesn't understand the word "closed."

I hope she was talking about the Star Wars films. She probably didn't receive much help or encouragement (or whatever she needs to deliver a decent performance) from George Lucas and got really bored having to deal with the special effects stuff. If Phantom Menace had been any other movie, she could have learned her lesson about taking a part in a huge special effect laden blockbuster and moved on, but she (probably) signed up to do the whole trilogy and was stuck playing a badly written role in sub-par films workig with a director who (I believe) could care less about the performance she was giving.
I hope she wasn't trying to explain away all of her sub-par work (in sub-par films) by saying that she was "bored". It would probably be better for her to acknowledge that she was trying to transition from playing girl parts to playing woman parts without having to star in a teen sex comedy or get naked on camera before she was ready.
