Exactly what I think too. Why is this turning into such a "thing" ?
Ellen gave away this puppy to people who she knew would care for it and give it a good home. I really don't think she seems like the type of person who would purposely manufacture pity so that people would take her side. Not every celebrity in the world is shallow and self centered. Does every thing out of everyone's mouth have to be picked apart and analyzed these days?

Thanks for the responses -- curious possible future lawyer here And I agree, Daisy Pusher and ireneb -- I think Ellen had some inkling of what would follow her on-air comments/breakdown. I didn't really have an opinion of her before, but definitely don't care for her so much now.

Entertainment Tonight had at least two different pictures of Ellen and Portia walking dogs - never to be seem (with them) again. I think it's a sad pattern - but not one that the rescue people could have known about. But you know, maybe this will stop her from doing it. It sounded like her rep wasn't denying that Ellen took in some dogs temporarily but her spin being that Ellen rescued these dogs from store/shelter conditions and found them loving homes.

Here are some of the e-mails that Mutts and Moms, Portia and the Hairdresser sent each other concerning Iggy. The rescue people don't sound crazy to me...

I have always found ED to be one of the most annoying humans on the planet. So, I am deriving a certain pleasure from all this. Except for poor Iggy, who did not deserve to get mixed up with annoying humans.

The last e-mail says "We are more than willing to consider you as a home to Iggy but not without meeting you and not without our process being followed" - seems to me that this could have been handled without drama, if something hadn't gone wrong. Ellen's hairdresser could have tried paying a little more attention to spelling/grammar when writing to someone she doesn't know. Pet peeve.

What's the reason the hairdresser and family didn't simply bring Iggy to Marina's, meet with her, and complete the application process? If I were Marina, I'd have also been alarmed and concerned for Iggy's welfare. Ellen must be a total nut job. She could have behaved like a responsible adult, picked up the hairdresser and Iggy, taken them to Marina's, assisted with the transition and made a nice contribution to Mutts & Moms. No tears. For some psychological reason she needed to vilify Marina. ETA: Oh, I guess the post just before mine explains it.

Cheryl, the hairdresser, needs to learn how to write properly. Goodness gracious. I don't understand why she didn't do what Martina Batkis asked. It wasn't unreasonable and would have prevented this entire mess. I wonder if Cheryl thought the rules didn't apply to her because she's Ellen's hairdresser.

Yuck. I find it strange that there's no mention in Portia's emails of Iggy having a problem with the cats. Instead, Portia says, "Well, we tried Iggy..." then goes on to rattle off a bunch of gibberish about how the dog just doesn't fit with their busy lifestyle. Which is something you are supposed to consider before adopting a pet. Dumbass.
Portia sounds like a real wank.
