There doesn't seem to be a thread for her, (correct me if I'm wrong) and I get the impression discussion of her would be interesting. I'm a fan, I find her stand up hysterical; I still giggle everytime I think about her 'coming out story told through interpretive dance' bit and I find her show entertaining.
Anyone?

Why hasn't she hosted the Oscars? She's done other award shows, and I think she will strike the right balance between humor and sucking up that Chris Rock and Jon Stewart couldn't do.
From what I have seen of her stand-up and material I have liked, I think it was her that has a 'do no harm' mantra in her comedy, which is nice.

She's so cute as Dory in Finding Nemo. Probably my favourite Pixar character ever.

Occasionally, I watch her talk show, and I find a lot of it annoying. However, when you can tell she's doing something because it cracks her up, it is television gold. I love watching someone have a good time.

I was watching a little bit of one of her stand up routines yesterday on Comedy Central and she was doing the bit about having a conversation with someone and then realizing that you haven't been paying attention. Suddenly you're coming back into the conversation and the other person says something about leotards and you have NO idea what they're talking about. Her facial expressions, timing, and tone are all perfect for this story.

I think she's hilarious and I agree: Dory was a brilliant character. I wanted an Oscar nom for her for that. I'm really looking forward to her as the Oscar-host.

Her "Thanksgiving With Martha Stewart" was one of the funniest TV Episodes EVER!!!! On par with the funniest of "I Love Lucy"s. Totally slapstick beginning to end. She is doing a Martha Stewart Thanksgiving for her friends, including the table settings, decorations, menu, and how she (Ellen) is dressed. Totally out of the magazine. One of her guy friends brings Martha as a guest.
She needs to ask her upstairs neighbor for use of his oven to cook the cornish hens, because hers is broken, and he holds the birds hostage, because he wants his picture taken with Martha.
He tells her "Pix for chicks! Pix for chicks!" I am laughing so hard right now just remembering it.

I love her stand up comedy. I especially loves how she describes the way people get so much food at the movie theatres and just put handfuls of popcorn into our mouths. So hilariously true.
