And I loved the "Oh, we were just about to e-mail you ..." bullshit from Portia and Ellen. Um, no, you weren't. Jerks.

So where is Iggy now? I'm sure wherever he is he's not missing Ellen, Portia, or Ellen's hairdresser. Even a pup would know he's better off without them.

I'm glad this has come to light. I'm totally on the rescue's side now. ED and Portia are the kind of people a rescue shelter should not have to deal with. Poria's statement makes me want to yank her hair. What, the new family were too good to follow up on what they required? Assholes all of them.
The sad thing is this rescue and the animals in it have been put through hell because of these selfish, self centered, self entitled idiots.
Rant over.

I'm not saying all celebrities treat their pets badly, but I've had too many first person experiences with celebrities who do not take care of their animals or neglect them. I would be extremely hesitant to let a celebrity adopt an animal.
Yeah. What Leenerbups said.

How stupid were Ellen (and Portia) to not realize that all this would come out, and sooner rather than later?

Huh. Has anyone seen this? Turns out it was Ellen's hairdresser who called the cops when the M&M owner showed up -- the owner didn't call them to accompany her. I think this is interesting info, because one of the things making some people uneasy about siding with the M&M lady was what appeared to be the disproportionate step of bringing police with her to the home. I think Ellen & Co are looking worse and worse in all this.

And I loved the "Oh, we were just about to e-mail you ..." bullshit from Portia and Ellen. Um, no, you weren't. Jerks. If the rescue place hadn't written Portia then they never would have known what happened to Iggy, and that is scary IMO. Why couldn't the hairdresser just go to Marina and apply for adoption? I don't mind Cheryl's spelling, I work in a university and you'd be surprised the number of folks here who don't know how to spell or where to put a comma.

How stupid were Ellen (and Portia) to not realize that all this would come out, and sooner rather than later? This is the part that's actually making me feel sorry for Ellen, in a different way than I did before. Before, I thought the pet rescue people were unnecessarily harsh and Ellen was a tiny bit of a victim in this situation. Now, I think Ellen (who I'm a fan of, by the way) may be emotionally unstable, at least temporarily. She had to have known that the truth would come out. She had to have known that bringing it up on-air would expose her actions to scrutiny. What the heck was she thinking?! If the breakup rumors are true, it may be that that stress is the cause. Unfortunately, most of us don't act out the Breakup Crazies on syndicated television.

ITA. Before the emails I couldn't get too outraged because it seemed like both sides were party responsible. Although, I did wonder if the shelter people might be depriving Iggy of a good home out of spite. Now? She may of had the best intentions, but Ellen comes across as extremely manipulative. She, Portia, and the hairdresser were clearly in the wrong, but she goes ahead and has a breakdown, not on live tv, but TAPED tv, and tries to force the shelter to give back the dog through public pressure. Or, as it turned out, through rather 'militant' fans. I'm sure she didn't intend for people to take it so far, (death threats?) but she is hugely responsible for the whole mess. Unfortunately, the ones who come out of this the worst are the animal lovers on both sides. Yeah, we really need to play up that over- invested, crazy, animal loving stereotype some more.

I wonder why Ellen keeps trying to adopt dogs when her cats clearly rule the roost. Being a cat person myself, I wouldn't try to force dogs in my household.
