Oh well, if she's doing it to help Paramount, then fine. This strike isn't about hitting the studios and causing them to lose money, right?
And whatever to their "It's different!" excuse. Does she employ WGA members? Is she a WGA member herself? Then it's not different.

If Ellen is a member of WGA, and she is writing material for her show, she is a not participating in the strike. If her writers are on strike, and the show goes on, someone who is not a striking guild member is writing for it. This is called being a scab.
I do understand that the her show is different from Leno/Letterman, but what it boils down to is if her writers (and her, too) are guild members. They are on strike. She should not go to work and neither should any other host with striking writers. If the show goes on, it's by scabs. This should make her extremely unpopular.

If Ellen was so concerned about her audience, do a q and a session, or similar, like a private audience with ellen, that is not taped. That way they get their fill of Ellen and she isnt compromising her writers or her integrity.

Ellen, Ellen, Ellen....what I am going to do with her. But I do think some of the heat she is taking is backlash now that more info is out about what went down with Iggy - although I stand by original take - all involved are crazy.
As for the strike, I got to side with the people who are trying to maintain and improve their livelihood. The strike wouldn't be happening if the writers, without whom all these crappy TV shows wouldn't exist, were getting a fair share of the pie so to speak. So I gotta say I agree with Alec Baldwin, they get hosed. And everyone has been talking about the possible strike for months, so anyone planning a major trip that involved something that could possibly be effected by the strike should have well....planned for it as far as I am concerned.

As far as her having a contractual obligation to fulfill, so do the other actors who are joining the picket lines or at the very least not crossing them in support of the writers.

I would not want to be in her position. I'm sure she's being pulled in two different directions, and she's under a LOT of pressure to perform. But... I don't cross picket lines and she should be willing to let her show go in order to support her writers. Especially if she's a member of the guild!
She needs to grow some balls and stand up for what she believes. Except it doesn't seem like she actually believes in the strike and is more irritated by it. I agree with the people who say that this will come back and biter her on the ass. People don't like scabs. She should be on the picket lines with the rest of the writers.

My guess is Ellen's crossing the picket line because she misses her daily dose of audience adulation. I wish the networks would switch to 24 hours of news and analysis (news is not Britney's latest antics) instead of boring the public senseless with reruns.

That's a really good idea. Frankly, I think a few tourists missing a TV show taping is not important at all, especially when lots of people's livelihoods are at stake. But I'm sure getting an autograph/picture/personal stand-up routine from Ellen would have made all the disappointed audience members really happy.
Has anybody seen Ellen's show since the strike? Has she stuck to the monologue routine, or is she now doing skits and bits?

I sense another nervous breakdown in store for this one. When the strike is over, I wonder how this will affect her guest booking. Will actors, who have joined the rallies and so forth, want to appear on her show anymore? It seems like a no-win situation for Ellen at this point.

I would imagine a lot of actors won't feel comfortable going on her show. But even so, she probably won't have problems finding guests. I'd be very surprised if she's ever asked to host the Emmys or Oscars again though.
