Peter Scolari was also in The Polar Express with Hanks. I remember they did a joint interview promoting it and Scolari said Hanks is his best friend.

India, Re Bosom Buddies: You forgot Donna Dixon as Tom Hank's love interest. She was smoking hot at the time and married Dan Ackroyd back in 83. I never understood how he got her. But they've been together ever since. Oh, I didn't forget her! She just wasn't nearly as funny as everyone else on the show!

I randomly caught about 20 seconds of Turner and Hooch a few minutes ago, and I must say, I forgot hot cute Hanks once was.
He really really hasn't aged well.

Funny this thread popped up, because I ran across this on the internets and it cracked me up. Because I'm 12.

One of the dog movies that really worked for me. Slobber an' all! Funny how he totally managed the transition from comedies to drama without any backlash, seemingly. Jim Carrey hasn't had the same luck, but then he seems a lot more weird than Hanks.

I think one of the reasons that there never was a backlash against him is the fact that he still manages to come across as a funny and somewhat relaxed guy off-screen, in interviews and all. And he still does silly stuff like that clip for the Oscars a few years back (where he was beaten down with a violin). I wish he would do some comediy stuff every now and again but I guess comedies really are for the younger actors these days, unless you count the stuff that Nicholson and DeNiro sometimes do. But I hope it's still a long time until I see Hanks in "Mett the Fockers"-kind of films.

Also, for the most part he never played a buffon in his comedies. I can't recall all of his films but he always seemed to play the sweet guy or put upon guy with the supporting characters supplying the crazy. He never talked out of his butt or displayed a spastic mania. His characters usually had a layer of normalcy.
My favorite movie of his is still Splash. Followed by The Burbs.

I just watched Splash the other day, one of my top favorite Tom Hanks movies! I love when he's singing Zip-a-Dee-Doo-Dah at his job and picks up a mango puts it between his neck and shoulder and sings "Mr mango on my shoulder" I think he improvised that, cracks me up all the time. I love his movies, when I was a kid I had Splash, The Money Pit, Big, A League of Their Own and Toy Story on constant repeat. One of his movies even had a play in me realizing that above anything else I wanted/had to be an actress. That scene in Philadelphia when he's describing the opera to Denzel, I remember watching that at 14, that scene had such an effect on me and I knew 100% that's what I wanted to do with my life. My favorite Tom Hanks film next to Road to Perdition is That Thing You Do!, that's one movie that I will stop and watch and sing along with if it's on. I never get tired of it.

It's probably my favorite film of his. I also like Big.
