I know it from the discussion in the divorce pool thread a few days ago but other than that I had no idea. Not that I was particularly paying attention to any gossip about them. I do find it sad and somewhat fascinating when couples who have been together for over 20s or more decide to split. It seems possible that their youngest turning 18 and possibly going to Uni was a catalyst.

Can't offer any insight from things I've read, but from a matter of opinion, I'd say that their announcement came as a total surprise to me, but then one that I kind of thought made sense with the benefit of hindsight. It seems like she's spent a lot of years playing second fiddle and supporting his career. From the outside it seemed like they were a great team and she was happy to support him and shine the spotlight on him. But I can understand that over time, if that's the way it was, it would get old. They've raised their kids together - I think the youngest is 18 now. So I think they're at a fairly normal place in life to look at things and ask "Is that all there is?" It would not surprise me at all if now that their kids are grown, one of them wants changes for the next phase in life, and the other wants things to stay the same. I don't think it's entirely uncommon for a couple at that stage in life to assess and decide they want things that the other can't give.

I could see that in some respects if she had a lot of business prior to their marriage and in its early stages, but she they were both kinda small potatoes (compared to HJ's popularity now) and it seems like she enjoyed a lot of how their life was. Having fun with other celeb friends, going to events, etc. I feel like it might have been something more personal. I'm sure it was a hard decision for them both. Divorce that is from a union this long and with such a history together can feel like a death of sorts. I hope that they'll still have a good relationship after it's all said and done and have healthy, happy lives.

Not that it makes any difference to me, but I really hope it's not going to be about his sexuality. I feel like that whole thing has been something the tabloids have been trying to push for DECADES. That he's really gay and his wife was his beard. I mean, sheesh, being gay in this industry hasn't really ever been an issue and even more so in the last 10-15 years, it's even more of an accepting way of life.

I don't think it's anyone's business and if this is the case, I wish he didn't feel he had reveal everything about his personal life. So many celebs do everything they can to keep their private life private. *shrug*
