I didn't have any problem with HJ thanking his assistant. Just because the assistant might be gay doesn't mean that HJ is. HJ seems to me like the kind of guy who, if her were gay, he'd be out and he wouldn't be married, at least not to a woman. This is exactly what I came here to say. He certainly looks to me like the kind of guy who wouldn't have any problem with being out. But perhaps that's my love of him talking...

He's too adorable. I felt like squealing when he won.
Sometime last year a poster mentioned on the site that won't be named that someone famous claimed he watched Jackman and his wife walking around their apartment (they lived in the same building). He claimed Jackman and his wife ignored each other and were really, really frosty.
Edited because run-on sentences are not good.

Wasn't it Vincent Gallo that was spreading that story around? I think it was around the time his movie 'Brown Bunny' came out and was widely dismissed. Plus it doesn't say much for Vincent Gallo that he's peeping into other peoples apartments and publicising it. That won't get people to see your films mister!
Gay, straight, whatever, I still like Hugh Jackman.

I'm not a big fan. He hasn't done anything that makes me go wow, but he does a tux proud.

I think The Fountain is going to be much better with Hugh, Rachel, and a $35 million budget than it would have been with Pitt, Blanchett, and the $90 million budget. The trailer: Quick TimeStills: 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8

Ooh The Fountain looks pretty cool. Loads of neat visuals in the trailer. I will definitely be checking it out.
I love Hugh Jackman but he hasn't really blown me away with any one performance. He is a competent actor who is sexxxy and is extremely appealing and personable. I love that he loves theatre and seems to not give a shit if people think he is gay for playing Peter Allen or doing musicals or whatever. I have never seen him apologize or explain away his choices or try to appear super-straight to divert attention from the fact that he hosts the Tonys every year and sings and dances all over the place, etc... He just seems comfortable in his own skin and that is extremely refreshing for a guy who is trying to make a place for himself in the macho world of Hollywood action films and franchises.
Now, I am just waiting for him to give a great performance on film so that my admiration can be complete.

He was named "Male Star of the Year" at this year's ShoWest convention.

Has he done anything to deserve an award? He's kept a pretty low profile. Is the award just because he's got movies coming out later in the year?

I assume it's for The Fountain and more importantly, X3. Keep in mind, Cupcake, that Showest is a exhibitors (or distributors?) award - point is it's given out by the theatre owners and not a critics organization, not to disminish Hugh's accomplishments in any way. But it's not an analogous award to an Oscar or an Emmy or whatever - I think it's determined by box office appeal and star power, mostly. All that said, I'm kinda surprised because I feel like it's often given to actors who are much more "up and coming" than Hugh. Unfortunately, IMDB has no records of the ShoWest award and the company's own site hasn't snazzed up their archives yet....but I swear it's true!
