No no no no! He is not dead!
WHEW!
I've warmed to this guy in recent years. He has managed to establish himself as a bandleader and musician-for-hire. Plus, he's an amazing drummer, and I'm a little sad he doesn't drum more these days. Discuss.

He gets my love automatically for being in Nirvana. And he's made great music with the Foo Fighters too.

He also seems pretty level-headed in interviews. I've heard rumors of him being a real pussy hound, but other than that, I haven't heard anything negative.

I had such a huge crush on him around 1994-1995. I remember it being a big highlight of my summer when the first Foo Fighters album came out. My friends had to listen to me talk all the time about the drummer from Nirvana, who they'd never heard of. So I thought it was really funny years later, well after my crush was over, when the Foo Fighters were really popular and everybody was going on about how cute and funny Dave Grohl is. I was all, "I knew that a long time ago!"
When my brother was a kid, he took guitar lessons from somebody in the DC area (a middle-aged guy with a kid) whose name was "Grohl". I've always wondered whether it was any relation.

Handsome and funny. I've gotten over my Nirvana love, but he gets extra points for the Foo Fighters.

Dave wins Brownie points for the treatment of the Tasmanian mine collapse thingee... If y'all havent heard of it, a mine collapsed in Tasmania earlier this year, and one guy died, the other two were trapped underground for something like 13 days? A long time, anyway. They got a pipe through the hard rock to the guys, while they worked on digging them out, and gave them food, water, and an Ipod. Y'know, all lifes neccessities. And apparently they requested Foo Fighters on the Ipod. When Dave Grohl heard this, he said when the miners were rescued they'd have 2 tickets to a Foo Fighters show and he'd love to have a beer with them. And sure enough, when FF came to Australia, he honored his promise, and sat down for a beer with the two guys. Supremely cool behaviour from a rock star who really, wasnt obligated to do anything.

Dave is my rocker boyfriend, along with Chris Cornell. I love him to bits. He seems funny and approachable. I pretty much think the FF can do no wrong, and love their music.

I hate to bring the love fest down but is it him or the FF that believe that AIDS isn't caused by HIV? I heard that and it killed a little of the crush on him but some people say it's just the drummer that supports it others say its him and others say the full band.
QOTSA is my fave band by him.

The story I heard about that (*fingers crossed*) is that Dave Grohl made a comment about the idiocy of people who think that AIDS isn't caused by HIV or that AIDS is a state of mind (Jenna Elfman) and his comment got transcribed as "AIDS isn't caused by HIV" alone. I hope that's the explanation! Although I was reading something the other day about how there is a growing movement among some HIV sufferers to question whether their condition is necessarily a precursor to AIDS so maybe there's more support for that kind "thinking" than I would have assumed.

The band links to Alive & Well on their Official Foo Fighters Causes page[/color]. The bassist, Nate Mendel, was the one who got the other guys into it. They did a benefit concert, which Mendel actually helped organize. I like some of FF's songs, but can't really get into their music. The music video for Learn to Fly is one of my favorites, though. Fangirl Dave ruled.
