And there are liberals on the Net that accuse Republicans of being Nazis and wishing death on them. I don't see how those people are representative of anybody but themselves: crazy bloggers with too much time on their hands. I wouldn't use that an excuse to say that therefore everyone who doesn't like, say, Toby Keith has as their "main problem" that they're crazy, terrorist loving liberals (even thought Toby Keith is a Democrat - he's the first name that popped into my head when I thought of someone who supported the war). If we judge by the Greecie site alone, it is much more likely that a celebrity with non-liberal views will be attacked for their political beliefs alone than vice versa.

The Greecie site isn't ike that. And judging by the posts including yours a couple people think it was not a good idea to be drunk and it never is but he didn't do anything awful and the sudden backlash with the Mel Gibson comaprisons is unwarranted. Or at least that's my observation from reading the posts here. By the nets I mean other places. For example YouTube. Read the comments on the 40 copies of this video posted there. It's just sad. And the comments run into 1000 plus comments per video sometimes. I haven't seen this much activity on Tube since Michael Richards the other week. Even the Britney/Paris videos aren't getting that much interest or vitriol and the DeVito ones. I don't know if DeVito is going to be pushed to apologize. I hope not because it seems unnecessary in his case.

The frenzy is because he mentioned politics. Had he only been drunk, there would have been brief mocking and then that's it. Off the top of my head, I remember Quentin Taratino showing up on Leno absolutely blasted. But he didn't say anything about Bush.
Being drunk on a dumb talkshow is not the same as driving drunk like Mel Gibson and spewing racial epithets like...well like both Gibson and Richards. The only thing it has in common is Celebrities Behaving Badly.
I bet he'd have said the exact same thing regarding ole numbnuts had he been sober.
I want to party all night with Clooney. Sounds fun. I talk crap about the president, too, but not when I'm drunk. Usually only when I'm sober.

If we judge by the Greecie site alone, it is much more likely that a celebrity with non-liberal views will be attacked for their political beliefs alone than vice versa. Do you mean that the Greecies are more likely to attack a non-liberal celebrity for his/her political beliefs, or not judge a liberal and a conservative celebrity equally in a non-political situation because of that? The word "alone" is confusing me a bit. If you interpret it very literally, then the Greecies are likely to attack a non-liberal celeb for his/her views, which is reasonable behaviour. If you interpret it to mean that political beliefs have no relevance to the evaluation of a celeb's behaviour, but the Greecies bring them in anyways, then it's a whole different story. ETA: Binky, word! I'd do the same. I'd shit on Bush right and left on television, drunk or sober. And if I had an opportunity to party all night with Clooney... I'd definitely show up for The View drunk.

Sorry, didn't realize I used alone twice!
Yes, I meant that Greecies are more likely to attack non-liberal celebrities for their political beliefs.

Thanks Binky. He acts silly and makes faces when he's sober and I can totally see him making the numbnuts comment and making the faces and saying just about everything he did say in the interview even if he was his usual sober self. Granted it's a one-off unprofessional thing to come on after a big night partying with Clooney. But he doesn't do it all the time. [whispers]But I have to agree if I could party with George Clooney all night and have a grand time at the risk of still being tipsy the next morning for The View I'd take it. [/whisper] And yep the Tarantino one with Leno I remember. He was really, really drunk. He was slurring. Noone made a fuss. Clooney talks to Matt Lauer about DeVitoClooney says he did Regis and Kelly that day hung over.

I also don't see what the big deal is. If I had to go on the View, I'd probably get trashed too.

Yes it wasn't a good idea to show up drunk, but I just keep thinking...it was "The View", that show is pretty much a joke anyway.

I don't see how people appear on The View sober myself, with that crowd. Yipes. I'd need a vodka patch on my ass just to keep the booze flowing during the show.
